Okay more narrowing required.
Was it used in the Russian theatre, i.e.. Russian markings?

There are quite a few Russian WWII monoplanes, but of course, it may not be a Russian plane, my previous question just confirmed that it had Russian markings.
But given that the Polikarpov I-16, isn't offered by Airfix, Revell or Tamiya in 1/72 scale (That I know of), that's my latest guess.

Not the I-16.

Be wary of making assumptions. The kit I'm offering isn't made my Airfix, Revell, or Tamiya. It doesn't necessarily follow that they haven't done their own version of the plane in question.

You've certainly excelled yourself with this one, I've got a number of other suggestions but methinks its best to narrow the field some more.

Does it have an in-line piston engine?

Yes, it has an in-line engine (as opposed to a radial or rotary)

Well done Tom, it is the Mig 3. Now, for bonus points, can you give me the make of the kit, and I did say it was obscure.
Cheers

That was going to be my second next guess, after an Ilyushin IL-2. Well done Tom.
Nice contest though Mark thanks for that, have a K from me.
You also had me thinking of obscure lend-lease variants of the Hurricane and Spitfire which also ended up with Russian markings.

I'll have a wild stab and suggest it's an Italeri kit.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Not the Italeri kit, far too main stream.....
