Well after a break, I am back with a shiny new build dairy for 2019.

The subject matter is......*drum roll*

Lego UCS Series Model 75172 'Y' Wing bomber.

Piece count 1367

As with my other past lego builds, i wont be posting ad-verbatim photos, just key stages and when i spot new elements.

Hi Loz, "ad-verbatim" that's not a real word :) there is "verbatim" which means to follow exactly word by word :) I think you may mean "step by step"
It's my new years REVOLOTION :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Ok well as promised here is my build dairy of the UCS Y Wing

First up is the instructions . Nice thick manual with the new UCS styling on the artwork:

ImageDSC00011 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

13 numbered bags-

ImageDSC00007 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

And a sticker sheet

ImageDSC00009 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

High res instructions within the booklet

ImageDSC00010 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

As per the norm we have a selection of new elements in new colours.

ImageDSC00013 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

And so it begins:

The central body structure coming together - you can see the position where the Y wing rests on the supplied stand

ImageDSC00014 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

Yes everything is truly awesome (Emmett agrees) there is a lot of modular steps on this build which adds to all the 'gribbling'

ImageDSC00014 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

ImageDSC00017 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

Some shiny new side pieces allocated to the build

ImageDSC00018 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

ImageDSC00020 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

You can start to see the level of detailing appearing on the build

ImageDSC00021 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

This is the action feature of the Y wing- the mechanism to rotate the gun on top of the cockpit

here we go again for more Lego fun

The detailing on this UCS is above and below the body work :

ImageDSC00025 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

This was a nice little sub assembly with the great use of an Ice Skate element

ImageDSC00028 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

ImageDSC00029 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

Some interesting uses of elements to make the exposed conduits and pipes

ImageDSC00030 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

Now we make a start on the engine mounting points:

ImageDSC00031 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

ImageDSC00032 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

Offered up to the body work and locked in:

ImageDSC00033 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

And repeat for the other side:

ImageDSC00034 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

Now work on the rear section. some new elements in use here:

ImageDSC00037 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

ImageDSC00040 by Lawrence Glendinning, on Flickr

Nice intricate trunking work:
