Paul’s 1/32 scale BMW Mini Cooper S

Postby Paul » Tue Aug 28, 2012 6:54 pm

I was rather puzzled tonight on returning home after work, as the model was delivered today, and I only ordered it yesterday ….!

The model cost £16.59 in total (£13.59 - it's the starter kit !!!!! and £3.00 P&P for standard 3 – 6 day delivery).

Also yesterday was a bank holiday in England and Wales, but then I realised the company is based in Scotland !

Hopefully I’ll post the obligatory pics later......

First up a couple of pics of the box, before I start to attack the model in November, to show how it should look ......

I will stick to the original colour scheame (mainly), and I doubt that I will attempt any mods this year (boring I know!).

Pics of the parts to follow ...... :)

A couple of pics of all the parts:

As the tooling is relatively new, the detailing is very good and the flash is very minimal as compared to the DB5 last year:

Hopefully pics of the decals to follow in a bit ......

A Pic of the decals (sorry it's out of focus    ):

The one for the roof is quite large, whereas the rest are really very very small, so I am quite worried about doing both.

they can't be large, the whole car is puny - you could almost sneak it into the db5 boot

...and I simply can't believe the word about the mods
AND you promised to refrain from buying more :superlglue: and it's included...

Hi Morrigan,

Yes they are a heck of a lot better than the DB5 ones !

Luckily, when I get my glasses I'll be able to test drive those for a month or so in both work and ERgh Egypt, before I start on this ! :laughing-rolling:

The offical colours needed for this model are (all HUmbrol colours):

11 Silver Metallic Acrylic
19 Red Gloss acrylic
21 Gloss Black Acrylic
33 Matt Black Acrylic
53 Gun Metal Grey Metallic Acrylic
130 White Satin Acrylic

I have some of all the above (though I will probably need to re-stock on most), apart from the 130.

Also, there might be a couple of variations along the way ..... !

Certainly with the body, a tin of the spray variety will be in order I think.

Other mutterrings and chunterrings to follow no doubt ! :)

This new Mini is a really nice little kit :D

Are you not up to the challenge of using the kit supplied paints?

When you going to be starting your build ? Morrigan and I are feeling kind of lonely all on our own building

Hi Grant,

It's a great looking kit & the new tooling really shows ! :D

I think I'm going the buy some spray for the bodywork, to hopefully get a smoother finish......   :laughing-rolling:

What with work being very busy (it always is in September), finishing the DB5 off (no not last year's xmas one !!!!! :laughing-rolling: ) and a 3 week holiday in October, realistically I think it's going to be November.

NB - by the time the rest of us start it'll be a real excuse for you to build another kit for the competition ! :) :) :)

Hi Casp,

Primer & red gloss were "Silver Hook" - I'll sand it all down and get some Humbrol after hols. :)
