Morrigan and the other Mossie

Postby morrigan » Fri Aug 31, 2012 8:52 am

In honor of KA114's first flight later on this year and being allowed to do more than one kit, I thought a mossie might be in order for the chrisse build. Of course it's not the nice new tool 1/24 Mossie kit, its the rather older 1/72 one since it qualifies for "The Rules". :
I managed to secure an old dogfight double boxing via  bay and a parcel is being eagerly awaited.

The parcel has arrived, so lets let see what I'm in for!

Even though a lots of the parts aren't attached to the sprues, its looks complete as you get for a vintage kit.

You don't get instructions like this any more.
Image

The only colour guide given is for the exterior:
Image

Recessed lines for the control surfaces and raised for everything else:
Image

Ack! Rivets! off with their heads!:
Image

I'm not to sure what's going on with the panel lines for bomb bay doors :?: :?: :
Image

Looks like this is why work stopped at a bit of paint for the inside and a tepid attempt at removing a sprue stub.
Oh dear. :angry-banghead:
Image

The Me262 is much worse as it is liberally peppered with different sized Ack! rivets, that are in wonky rows. The chief rivet maker must of been a bit tipsy that day.
Also has some nice glue fingerprints on the other fuselage half even though nothing is assembled:
Look out for it next year!

Now I can see why people collect these old kits rather than build them :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Challenging? I prefer to think of this kit as a blank canvas!

Work has commenced on the Mossie.

All raised panel lines were removed and nice new recessed lines scribed all round.

Yep - make the interior.
Those two little stubs in the fuselage halves are struggling to replicate a mossie cockpit! and failing magnificently.
