after placing it on the car i,m not sure if the piping is a little on the large size  , maybe a thiner wire would be better.
I have two sets of plastic parts to play with so its no problem doing the side piece again.
I also noticed that the seats sit really high in the car, the cover should have gone over the top of the seat slightly.
sorry about the photo, lighting was bad.

Hi Casp, why do you think that the seats are so high compared to the cover, as you seem to have it all done correctly? ;)

Hi Paul
the seats are just sitting a little higher than some i have seen in photos so just need about 2mm off the bottom rails. Funny really as the coachwork had an extra mm hight added from the leather
Now i have a better understanding of the cover that goes over the seats and hood i think i will have another shot at it and use smaller wire for the piping and then have it resting over the front seats.
I have a second plastic part to use so might as well try to better my first attempt. I love your R2 Paul, would love to get that for Shane but he wants only a Lord of the rings set this year. He is mad on Minecraft at the moment, we have just had a delivery from jinx in the usa, thank god they came on time

Hi Casp and Steve,

You'll have to buy the R2 for yourselves, assuming SWMBO's agree ! :) :) :)

Been thinking about that BA, i did try dirtying up a spare Tyre to see how it comes out but it didn't work too well. I think more research is needed on weathering models.
I was happy with the look i got on the exhaust, but the car looks too clean.

casp with the cars you'd need two or three different shades of matte automotive cans - maybe light + dark grey + tan =>
set the model on a painting stand (best sitting on it's wheels with partial access to the bottom) where you'd have access from underneath =>
spray from around 15-20 inches (remember, the car is traveling so paint comes from the bow) in VERY light coats changing the cans after each coat -
don't need to build up a heavy layer, just get the thing dirty - if there are some larger droplets it's even cooler than an even layer...
try to be less careful than with applying a gloss paint - it's just dirt!!
when satisfied, wrap the dried car and give each wheel a single shot or they'll be clean on the rear + back side
try on some scarp piece of wood etc to get the feeling + see the effect before getting onto the car as you cannot remove the stuff...

Great tips thanks BA ;)
I have various shades in acrylic and was thinking of trying it on some scrap first through an airbrush to see what it looks like. Will be a scary moment spraying the model after all the hours put in.
The spray from an airbrush may be a little fine for dirt, but worth a try to see what it looks like.
:?: Would you build up dark to light shades or the other way round.

Hi Casp,

I had a similar proplem just using basic acrylics for a wood effect.

On some it was better to go for dark base colours then light, yet on others the other way around! I suppose it's all down to the size of the piece that you are doing and what suits the eye, if you know what I mean :)

casp I'd build up at will as you don't want to have an even coat or it would be just fine using one colour -
so just playing around here and there with different colours is what I have done so far, so you have a bit of variety -
the dirt would be slightly different on the edge of the street (more dark) and lighter (as there's less of it) in the middle line -
but just so as you don't want it to be a rainbow-like thing...

imagine unpleasant weather conditions and no chance for overtaking for at least 15 minutes -
a lorry splattering all the mud from the edge - how would your car look like??!

In Wales I think it's very easy for us to imagine ! :laughing-rolling:
In seriousness thanks for the advice for us all BA :) :)

Hi Steve :)
I would recommend this kit even though mine was the older one. I haven't been on the advent calender today, been very busy with Christmas coming, maybe later.
I hope to get some more work done on it over the holidays. Almost finished now :D
Still not sure if i should weather it yet, astons tips sound really good and would look really great if done properly but i think i would mess it up and there's no going back.
