They kinda look ok for scale so i may use them somewhere.

Hi Casp,
You've motivated me to paint one of the Penguin's umbrellas that come with the deluxe version of the Batmobile ! :)

Great idea Paul but i was thinking more along the lines of a garage environment with tin roof and dirty false window...maybe a loo as well :laughing-rolling:  just kidding :)
Not really sure yet but a garage scene would be good. I already have the brick walls and some of the wood for the beams etc. Just need to find the right scale corrugated sheets for the roof

Would any corrugated card do the job? As if the right size you could use glue to strengthen it before painting ? Only a Blue Peter thought ! :)

Thanks charliecat for your kind words. I really need to pull it out and finish her off. Its a great car to build and I am sure you would enjoy building one. I am a novice model builder and without the tips and advice from fellow members I would not have got this far let alone finish her. Still need to finish the canvas roof and add the stone mesh and screens. When I have the time  :)

I am in the same boat as you Casp - other projects have overtaken the Bentley (no pun intended)! I must get down to finishing the thing

Mine took over and then broke down
I don't like the canvas hood i started and need some brass rods for the brakes.
I do have things that i can be getting on with like the front screens and steering wheel  will have to lock the doors, close the curtains and hide for a few hours :shifty: :)

Hi Casper
Well impressed by your Bentley.
Have decided to tackle it. Great to follow through your construction and hopefully improve on it.

Found a Company in Kentucky who are providing Fine leather(called skiver), belt buckles and straps.
Mesh for the rad - David Isopon mesh for Car Body Repairs. 79p.
Grilles from a co called Shawplan Extreme Etchings (Railway stuff) for the headlamp, horn, carbs etc.
K&S do all the copper and brass tube for the engine.

Have decided to build a 2014 car. Not too new.

The bits to superdetail are more than the kit but should be worth it.

Built the rear bumper in brass with bolts from Scale Hardware in the US.
Looking at many photos I may do the body shell a lighter colour outside with a dark green interior.
Carpet, umbrella, toolkit etc all I/12th stuff from Dolls House Emporium.
Tamiya Colours seem more accurate but am sticking with the Humbrol Brunswick Green.

Hi,

With all this, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing your build diary. :D :D

And yes, all the extras can cost more than a kit, but then (apart from the money) they can be a lot more fun !!!! :D :D

Hi Casp,

How about going for this to compliment your 1/8th scale Bentley, although this is 1/32 scale:

Hello Casper,
What an amazing blower !!!!
May I ask you where you got the leather from ? Brings an amazing look to your Bentley.
I wish mine could turn out half as good !
Great job. Congrats,

Hi Richard,

I think Casp searched for it on e-bay. From memory I think it was a faux leather rather than real (not that, that matters).
With either, the thinner the better, as it's easier to keep the original shape of what you are applying it to. :)

Hi constructor :)
thank you for your kind words, sorry for the late reply been busy at work
This has been sitting un-finished in my cabinet for months and still needs some work on the roof mechanism, I will be doing a diorama at some point but at the moment my Honda f1 car takes precedence
Its a really nice old kit and was a joy to build. I got the leather off :techie-ebay: but when it arrived it was the wrong colour so I sprayed it Brunswick green to match the bodywork and It came out ok I think.
I got my 1/12 umbrella and tool kit from Dolls House Emporium, the umbrella is fine but the toolbox was rubbish but I will use the tools at some point.
Skiver sheepskin or goatskin leather would be easier to use especially for the seats and interior but if you use it for the coachwork make sure the centre join of the kit parts is filled and sanded well so you don't see the join through the leather.
looking forward to reading through your diary

I've had a look on the Pittards website where they sell "skins" that will do the job, though none the correct colour. However there are close enough ones that could be sprayed with Humbrol Brunswick green though. :)

Blooming heck Casper! You've done a brilliant number on this one.

I know it's an old thread but it's the first time seeing it. Makes me wonder how many other gems are hidden in the older forum pages 3!
