Halloween catering......

Postby Mark » Mon Oct 23, 2017 6:07 am

Laura and some of her friends are having a Halloween party. I'm after some ideas for the food, perhaps with the odd trick amongst the treats.

What I've got so far.

Dead men's fingers (white bread spread with cream cheese - rolled up with an almond finger nail and raspberry jam blood at the other end. One of them night be thickly spread with Vegemite, snigger....
Mouldy brains in eggs. boiled rice mixed with pesto and put in boiled eggs.
Plain old cheese sarnies, with sliced olive eyes. one may have a slice of lemon in it.
Ghost pizzas - burger buns spread with tommy paste, and a ghosts shaped piece of cheese.
Slug curry - tinned carrots in a curry sauce - there might be the odd raw piece of carrot......
Worms in entrail sauce - spaghetti in tomato sauce.
Dracula's teeth. Cookies, cut in half, spread with red icing on the inside, and mini marsh mallows arrange to look like teeth. Almonds for fangs. Two halves sandwiched together of course.

And a party game - a plate of chocolates, and the kids are told that one of them is filled with chilli - but I might well be telling a little fib. Play a 'knock out' game like musical chairs. When the kid gets eliminated, they can have a chocolate. The tension will mount, right to the end !!

Has anybody got any more ideas for food that can be have a little trick amongst the treats.
Cheers
Mark

I think that might be taking a bit too far, I'm sure the kids will have a great imagination thinking that the blackcurrant is blood, but taste good at the same time ;)

Hi Mark, just a thought for your Halloween bash, slice some fresh tomatoes into sizeable chunks and put them into your "treat" tin or bag

As an aside, Laura's birthday is coming up soon. She wants me to make a pinyata. A cardboard sphere full of candy that they hit with a stick to break. The kids see a lot of candy. I see a challenge :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: Laura said, No Metal. She didn’t mention Duct Tape

Could blow up a large balloon, paper mache it. Turn it into a skull and fill with sweets for a pinata

I'm sure that you can make a better one that shown in this link

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll put that under the cooked spaghetti that was going on top of the candy

For anybody interested, here's a link to a Flickr album showing the food I created.
There was jellied eyeballs as well, but I forgot to take a photo of that - and it disappeared very quickly. Peeled grapes stuffed with hazel nuts, set in green and purple jelly.
