Teeny weeny Corsair Squadron

Seeing as some of us like to build small models, I've created the Tiny Model Challenge. Feel free to post build diaries of any tiny models.

Teeny weeny Corsair Squadron

Postby morrigan » Sun Sep 22, 2013 9:05 pm

A box containing a squadron of 1/700 F4U corsairs has arrived.
As they are moulded in clear plastic, I had to paint some up, so you can see whats on the sprue
The white pencil, is a very handy pencil indeed from RB productions; the core is a tacky wax, perfect for picking up small bits that like to go 'ping!' out of tweezers.

As you can see folding the wings will need some micro surgery.

I quickly threw one together, and compared it to the official unit of scale:

That makes the 1/350 ones look huge !

Did you manage to get the tail wheel fitted without it flying off into the ether (never to be seen again...... :angry-banghead: )
Cheers

Awwwww! Aint that cute

The husbands/wives/mothers and Bank managers must be loving this 1/700 buying we all been doing :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Do you know how little space these kits take up in your stash cupboard - you will get about 20 kits in the space of a 1/32 scale kit box

I await in anticipation to see the magic you and your fuse wire are going to work on these little Corsairs :D
So many models, so little time!

Tailwheel safely made it from sprue to Corsair thanks to the sticky pencil. The pencils are also sold as a craft item for picking up rhinestones.

Fuse wire will come into play for the undercarriage, the legs are way to chunky as is, they remind me of Nora Batty and her wrinkled stockings.
I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of delicate surgery coming up.......

I once build a 1/700 scale jap carrier with all the planes, that was when I had steady hands, now I can only build crash landed planes. :laughing-rolling:
