Kits outside the scope of the Xmas Comp

Postby Paul » Wed Dec 11, 2013 12:12 pm

Hi All,
Mark has already alluded to the fact he considered another kit for the Xmas Comp, but it was outside the scope of it.

Were there any kits that you also considered?

The first kit I fancied as being slightly different was:

Monty's Humber Snipe Staff Car

Image

it's a scale 1:32 and skill level 2 kit and also has Monty to paint
Dimensions (mm):L143 x W63
It's priced at £16.99, though is a series 5 kit, A05360

The other kit I also fancied as being "something completely different!" was:

An Airfix Four Stroke Engine

Image

It's a skill level 3 kit, Dimensions (mm):L198 x W122
It's priced at £19.99 though is a series 7 kit, A07870

I was mulling over this little fellow in my stash, right price, but its series 4, drat:

I've also got a kit where half of it would meet the Criteria, but I'd have to leave the bottom bit off:

Mark might be contemplating this new tool just released from Airfix, just meets the rules:

this one is for me: a bit out of range at 115GB - but it's only 1:72
so I think in the end I could only build the command module

Started unpacking the box for the wheels - got scared and ran away at the point where I got the 20 th sprue out ...

Oh made a start in the barrel ... All 3 and a bit feet of it and 10 parts ish ...as I've had a fabidea .., but it's all at the secure secret location where I store it

But i need to locate some industrial size tins of the glue needed so I'm in conversation with some glue makers ie loctite as they seem to be excited about the product as the plastic in the Dora is abs ?

Oh, that new tool Lightning has got to be acquired :D Perhaps after Eduard have made some shiny bits for it
Hopefully Tamiya mag will review/build it soon.

I did want to use etched railings on the Hammann, but that're out :angry-banghead:
I did contemplate using the Trumpeter spaceship, but I'd already started it, and it'll take me 3 months to fill all the gaps :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:
I have got a Hasegawa 1/32 Komet in the cupboard, but that doesn't quite fit inside the rules, and I have a resin/etched detail set with it ........
Cheers
Mark

I've got a build diary of the space ship here viewtopic.php?f=36&t=4632

I'll do a dairy of the Komet sometime next year. I'll take a snap when I dig it out next.
Cheers
Mark

ah, the kit with the vacuum inside the box :laughing-rolling:
paul with the precision engineering gone into mark's spaceship he should be happy if it wouldn't miss the earth on re-entry rather than hitting the saturn V...

Ok small correction, the chinese have hit the moon, so apparently they can aim a target with their spaceships -
even if it took them 10 days - maybe they used a carbondioxide saving fuel to minimise the CO2 footsteps...
so now we know they can drop something off  while in the vicinity of a large heavenly body :laughing-rolling:
