Paul's Das Boot U-Boat Type VIIC

Postby Paul » Thu Dec 12, 2013 1:35 pm

Hi All,

As Les (Number 1) correctly guessed :D :D , the following will be my second offering for this year's Xmas Comp.

It's another Airfix starter kit and priced at only £7.99!!!!

It's the Airfix Das Boot U-Boat Type VIIC Starter Set 1:400 scale, so as such with it being a starter set, the part number is weird: A55113

Dimensions (mm): L166 x W14

And only 36 parts (so less to :superlglue: !!!!) and only 4 paints (although I don't think this allows for it to be Tango'd though)!!!!! :laughing-rolling:

Pics of the box to follow shortly, though until I've finished the E-Type, the box is firmly shut as Gizzie Cat had all the E-Type parts on the floor this morning! :angry-banghead:
Just :) to Cause a Landslide - Some :superlglue: will be included .....

no green or red paint included, what a pity.
But is that nice metallic colour I can see to cry havoc with?

does it come "mit musik" to keep you entertained while khhhhm khhhhhm "building" das model?

love the detailed painting instructions: "slap on some grey paint, whatever on hand"
you could still paint it to resemble "operation pettycoat" :laughing-rolling:

Oh no Steve,

If I'd had a plane that was in the desert, then perhaps pink would have been the colour !!!

you need to fill the thing up with glue and wait 'till it runs out and onto all the adjacent parts...

As Grant is also doing this model and will make a great job of it :D :D I'm just thinking about whether to actually spray mine yellow, though I don't want to show any disrespect to anyone.....

As Grant said, there are a lot of Teeny Weeny parts !!!!

For interest, this is a re-box of Mirage Hobbies VIIc kit, originally released in the 90s. They also did an etched detail set for it, although that is slightly academic here ! No idea if it's still available or not.

Well blow me, guess what I have in the display cabinet, only the mirage version, never realised they were the same kit.
Must confess its not quite finished, like a lot of my models I seem to start another before finishing the first ;)
