Hi Casp,

Could you weather the yellow decal to tone it down a bit?

NB - I think your last idea regarding the hinge is the best !!!!! :) :) :) :laughing-rolling:

NNB going to watch BBC1 Wales as Hinterland will be on at 9.00 and I think it's the one that features Borth train station etc. :D
Just :) to Cause a Landslide - Some :superlglue: will be included .....

Hi Casp,
It might be worth trying a wash on the decal first as you said and see how that goes before considering removing it perhaps ?

I added a wash Paul but it didn't make much difference but there will be more mud and dirt getting added later
I gave the wheel centres a coat of Olive drab and weathered them the same as the body, the tyres will be painted Tamiya black rubber when a can get it to stick to the vallejo primer :angry-banghead:
A few decals added and the lights were given a coat of chrome silver then clear orange for the front and clear red for the rear.
The radio has some black fuse wire coming out of the back and i'm hoping to make a hand mic/reciever. The rifle has had a coat of smoke to tone it down a little and the petrol can has the leather straps painted.

Thanks Mark ;) :)
do you find that Tamiya acrylics take ages to dry and don't seem to want to stick to Vallejo primer  . Its taking a few coats to lay down some black rubber on the tyres and it comes off as you brush it. was hoping to have the wheels on today so i can dirty it up and have a go at the figure. I gave the figure a coat of primer and it showed all the flash that was difficult to see before. After a quick clean up with a needle file and some emery it looked a little better. Not a lot of detail to the figure apart from braces, straps, belts and boots.

Quick base coat of Olive drab and brown leather for the boots, some detailing and dry brushing and hopefully he should look something like a US soldier. I dont think i have any flesh coloured paint  so will leave that for now, should have put his goggles on instead of doing his eyes...can see them being a challenge :?

I've never tried them on Vallejo primer, although I do have a bottle as yet unopened. I'll give them a try on a test piece first.
I was going to use that to prime some metal miniatures I've got, but I'll try it with Tamiya paints as well, on something expendable !!

The figure is looking good. A dark wash will bring out all that detail.
You could follow it with a dry brush of the original colour, and perhaps a dry brushed highlight with a lightened version of the original colour. Lighten with tan or yellow, or a light green rather than white. White will just make it look chalky. Hope you don't mind the suggestions.
As for the eyes. You might get away with just painting a dark line. It's difficult to see much detail in the eyes at this scale.
Cheers
Mark

Hi Casp,

As he will probably be a muddied soldier etc, is there a possibility that you could use different paints to reflect this in the absence of you having any flesh coloured paint? :)

I was having trouble getting the Tamiya rubber black to stick to the Vallejo primer on the wheels  so i used Humbrol flat black and that went on a treat :)
some touching up here and there and a bit more weathering and assembly can be started, then i can dirty it up a little :)

Hi Casp,
which Humbrol matt black did you use? as the Coal matt black one gives a slightly different effect to the normal matt black :)

Hi Paul
it was number 33. it came out ok really and doesn't look that different to the Tamiya rubber black. A little dirt and dust and they should look ok.

Hi Casp,
The Humbrol Coal black, which off the top of my head is 85, does give a better effect for this on larger models :)

Hi Casp,
It's hard to explain about the coal black, but it is different to the normal Humbrol matt black......
Whether there is a bit more blue in it, I'm not too sure
