Uploading images

Postby Julian » Sun Apr 01, 2012 3:41 pm

As we have a few New members, I thought that I would just remind everyone, That if possible use the 3rd party image storage sites for uploading pictures.

There is a walk through in the General Board Section

The reason for this is that every pic will take server space and so as Mark is running this site with no expense to any of us, It would make sense to keep his costs down by not filling the space. As the older members will rember when the Tiger was launched in other countries, we kept losing the site due to going over the bandwidth.

Please read the post below.

I have read and reread your instructions for using Photobucket, but I must be getting stupid in my old age because I cant make the connection between our Forum and Photobucket.

Could I have an idiots guide as I now have something worth putting on the Forum

It is actually quite simple.

Have you set up a Photobucket account?
Once it is set up, upload all photos you want from your PC to photobucket.
When the photos have uploaded you are ready to transfer to the forum.

What I usually do is open up a new tab and go to the forum, you can now switch between photobucket and the forum quickly.

Place your cursor over a photo. A box appears with several lines at the botom of it.
The last line has "img" on it. Put your cursor over the box beside it and right button click, the box should then show "copied" in it.

Now.

On the forum you click "reply" as normal or "start a new topic". You can "paste" the code from photobucket as you would normally do by right clicking and selecting "paste". A longish code with "img" at the start and finish should then appear.
You can copy and paste as many pics as you like, just remember to hit "enter" after each one so it goes onto a new line.
You can add as much text as you like, of course.
Practice on the "testing, testing....hey, is this thing switched on?" section here; viewforum.php?f=5

You can do it!!! :D

If anyone uses Photobucket, they are changing their website, so things might change, though the IMG URL is still the thing to use, if that makes any sense!

Why not just attach them to the post with the facility at the bottom of the page? works for me

The Android Photobucket app is a bit dodgy in my view. It keeps doing weird stuff to my phone, so I've removed it. I'm now getting automatic photo dumps into a thing called Dropbox, then manually putting them into Photobucket. Unfortunately, Dropbox doesn't have the "Share as .img" feature, so will only embed in this site as a hyperlink. It's a pain, but it works.

Photobucket has also caused problems in the past for PCs etc. when they've updated, but eventually they do appear to get things sorted out. :)
