Board time.

Postby Mark » Tue Oct 30, 2012 4:06 pm

Now that the clocks have changed (in the UK at least) you will have to change the time in your board preferences. It's not automatic as everybody has their own time setting. Anyway, it's easy to do.

Click on the User Control Panel link, just below the Board Index link at the top.
Click on the Board Preferences tab.
Change the option on 'Summer time/DST is in effect' from yes to no.
Finish by clicking submit.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy :D

I have more than 3 words here as the word has started on the 3 word game it is as mark emphasized to everyone's liking who's outside GMT -
I could of course set a board time to match all in GMT but then the optics for my pc are a bit weird as I have two times running on the same screen -
as I've set it now I see xy forum time and when I post I see the same exact xy time as post time,
so once I finished this and post the board post time will show something around 23:29 (my local time), I suppose all others will see me an hour early?

and yes, I've turned summer time off...

I 'think' that the board logs posts according to the server time, and then adjusts the displayed posting time to account for your own time zone setting. I could be wrong though........

mark must be right - I see his response time only minutes after my post and we're in a different time zone -
so the system must be displaying the time for ME according to MY local time - please give us an overseas feedback :)

Hi Sky,

Yes it is all different, even within Europe, I thought I'd just bring all this to the fore again as some of our newer members may not be aware of having to change their account settings etc. :)

Helps me as well. A reminder to change my settings, when the time comes.
