I just adore that instrument panel!! Those decals really make the whole part "Pop" I have just gone along with the supplied set of decals for my build. But your build so far certainly merits a "K" from me, I will keep a close eye on what you do with yours and hope mine turns out as well as yours
Cheers, Steve..

Thank you all for the kind words and Ks, any feedback good or bad is appreciated ;) just a word of advice before fitting the engine, check the slots in the firewall, as I found out later mine were undersize when trying to fit parts c18 & c46, same thing with the slots on the engine in between the upper cylinders were part c23 fits, I filed the tabs down on the parts to fit the slots on mine.

I like very much what you're doing to the tiffy,
just wouldn't be me if I wouldn't ask, why don't you get rid of the casting lines on all of the parts -
I know the macro pictures show more than can be seen with bare eyes but I always sand off any remains of the casting procedure...
that is the tiny bit more that gives it away - or not - as a model...

Yes I agree that there is still a lot of casting seams, but it seems ( no pun intended) that no matter how much you sand them off they appear to regrow :laughing-rolling: I might revisit some of the worst ones especially the part that goes over the top of the engine.

This message just arrived in my inbox regarding the canopy issues.

Dear Sir Sorry for the delay This e-mail is to confirm that we are still looking into the canopy problem And will reply ASAP when we have resolved. We have our development team working with the supplier to correct this problem Your comments have been forwarded to the team. We can send canopy were the sag is not so visible. regards Airfix spares

The rate Im building the tiffy they hopefully will have the problem solved, no point in getting a replacement at the moment.

At least Airfix seem to trying to remedy the problem and there's the A2zee canopy as a backup if needed!
I have to admit I've gone with the backup option as I have small pile of Airfix canopies already, so I went with the definitely fixed it option.
So nice to receive a beautiful blemish and dimple free tiffie canopy yesterday from A2Z yesterday.

just spent nearly 45 minutes trying to fit part D01, (the green curved pipe in the middle of the pic) in the end I cut the pipe at the start of the upward bend and glued this to the bottom of the engine, I then fitted the rest of the pipe to part D26, then carefully moved the two halves of pipe together and glued them back together. apologies to those who are not building the tiffy as this probably doesn't make much sense :?

part D26 is in the centre of the pic showing a gap in the middle pipe, this is where part D01 is fitted, needs a touch of filler!

looking at the instructions I thought it would be easier to fit stage 83/84 before fitting the radiator permanently, the radiator was assembled and dry fitted to set the pipes at the correct angle, ( they are the ones coming from the two circular parts to the outside of the frame)

This is part D25 stage 71, I found that I had to cut about 4mm from the end marked with the arrow to get an acceptable fit :angry-banghead:

This comes in two halves leaving an ugly seam to remove unfortunately I also sanded off a raised lip around a drainage? hole, this I replaced with morrigans favorite, fusewire :D

Yep your right steve, I tried to soften them with some micro sol, hoping to turn them round but with no luck, their now removed.
If anyones building their tiffy with the lower engine covered I could put the decals you dont need to good use ;)

An email to Airfix, and they will probably sell or even give you a replacement. The model is looking great :D
Cheers

Knowing Airfix they'll just send a new decal sheet free of charge.

Made a bit of progress on the Tiffy, the fit of the lower wing left a gap at the forward edge.

the measurements of the radiator parts was checked and seems correct

another gap appears where the lower wing meets the fuselage, this will be seen as its in the wheel bay, stage 91. Hope these small gaps don't cause problems later on

the inner wings were fitted out and painted as per instructions, not to happy with the colours. The yellow part needed a bit of filing to get it to fit.
