Here's another one. (Xmas present from my eldest daughter)

This time no mods, but for me the thing that I'm going to experiment is the painting. Now armed with some Vallejo Model Air paint... and with the airbrush and compressor on the way, who knows how this will end :?

I think your ahead by 1 with the kit builds. This one will equalize it

But I don't count my Chickens (sorry I meant builds) until they are completed ;)

I will have to complete this and one more to overtake your build count

However you have the advantage, you builds have been so much superior to mine :? :angry-banghead:

Thanks #1 for your faith in me

I carefully selected all the colours especially for the Sopwith Camel and Spitfire using the paint conversion charts. And where there wasn't an exact match, I carefully chosen colours that are very close

I made a little start on my model.

The big question, do I paint all the parts first and then glue everything together or do I paint as I go along as required?

To me it made sense to start off by priming everything. First I washed the plastic.

So by using a mock up booth made from a box on it side. Polystyrene to hold cocktail sticks with crocodile clips attached.

I've gave everything it's first coat of primer.

I did see something on the internet where you use different tones of primer to shade the model and then when it comes to putting on the top coat, it all nicely shades the top coat. I might give this a try.

Today I was armed with my air brush again.

All the parts have been painted and is now ready to glue together.

For many of you, using an airbrush is second nature, bear in mind this is my very first build using an air brush and I've learnt a lost so far and still much more to learn.

The Sopwith Camel put together.

I looking at trying a new way of applying the rigging. I don't know if it's been done before. I've stretched some black thread between some clips and applied some PVA glue to allow to set. Once set, I'll cut to size and glue in place

Another one done and dusted.

A straight build this time with out any mods.

This comp is all about trying something new. Well for me it was using an airbrush and with this build I pre-painted all the parts before gluing all together which is a slightly different technique to the Spitfire which I've just completed.

The rigging was a pain in the :obscene-buttsway: I think I need a tuition on how to do this properly for next time.

As with all my other planes build for the comp, I will build a display cabinet with a diorama for them at a later date.

Enjoy the photos (The Humbrol glue added for size ;) )
