That could work, my only concern is accessibility to remove and replace the removable flooring, you might need some nimble fingers or a pair of tweezers ;)

Some more shapeways parts came today including my free replacement for the damage cockpit parts. So now I've a spare nose cone to work with.

The R2D2 that I ordered came with missing feet, so I've contacted shapeways for a replacement.

The upgrades includes a new bunk and end-walls. I've also included my original R2D2 in the photos for comparison.

I now de-greased the parts and are all waiting to be painted. I finished of gluing the extra grills to the floor and then I added some plastictruct around the edge of the hole that I cut in the floor, this is to allow the new shapeways grills to sit on.

Things are still a working progress for me. Today I found some time to apply some paint to my shapeways 3D parts.

Here is how my floor and fiber optic Dejarik table coming along (Fiber optics to be fitted at a later date). I've also painted the nose cone and matched the colour up nicely with the tunnel. I'm going to add detail to the nose cone at a later date.

I've yet to paint the white strips under the floor.

cannot help myself but even if looking nicely most of the stuff could be made from plastruct for a fraction of the printing price?

Thanks BA, but you've got to admit that the detailing on these 3D Shapes are 2nd to none.

More working progress, I've been painting more of the 3D shapes and they are coming along very well.

I've yet to add some lighting.

I've scraped some of the paint away where the white line runs at the back and side of the cockpit, the cockpit console center and the sleeping bunk lights and these will be illuminated by a LED bulb.

I might have a spare nose cone and navigation seats going. At the moment I'm keeping these until the build has moved further down the line just in case I need these.

They have been painted, but the nose cone will need stripping back down to the plastic and sanding.

I'll let you know if I decided if I no longer need these at a later date and I'll give you first refusal. These will cost you nothing.

The nose cone was a replacement as the side console arrived damage and the navigation seats were what I initially purchased, and then Tony brought out the full cockpit console with more seating.

Hi Roy! I would be interested in one of your navigation seats as I need one to fit in front of the control panel in the main crew area. For some reason this kit does not have one suplied which is weired as there is definitly one shown in the films! Han Solo is sitting in it next to Obi one! :P

Just a little update to my working progress.

Today I scrapped off some of the paint in the cockpit and navigation computer to allow some light to show through where the lights are supposed to be. I made a scraping tool from a emery-board nail file. I cut a thin strip off the emery board and glued it to the side of the emery board and it did the job.

ImageRBTMFP1 Mon 18 May 15 1 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

I've some glass paint on order to paint where I want the light to show through.

In order to fit the shapeways cockpit console and flooring, I sanded the inside of the cockpit tunnel, removing the groves and locating pins. I then fitted some plasticstruct to locate the new cockpit walls.

ImageRBTMFP1 Mon 18 May 15 2 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

ImageRBTMFP1 Mon 18 May 15 3 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

I've got two options with lighting the cockpit walls, I can either use fiber optics or simply shine a back light thought the holes which could be covered in various colours of cellophane

To day I've been working on the cockpit console and back wall for the illuminating.

The console had paint scraped away and replaced with glass paint (£1.99 from ebay for a set of 5 colours).

The back wall was going to be strategically covered in clear cellophane sweet wrappers. The chocolate was nice and I've now stuffed my face, but the colours wasn't that strong and it was going to be a pain to strategically glue these over individual holes.

I decided to cover the back of the wall with clear plastic used for glazing model buildings. Actually I use a lot of glazing, so I'm always saving glazing from toy and models packaging (mine came from my syma RC helicopter box). This was glued in place and then I used glass paint to paint over the individual holes.

I also covered the back of the cockpit door with black card to stop any light seeping through.

For the purpose of the photos, I held my parts up to the light as I yet to fit some LEDS and EL tape. No side walls are included in the photos today, these are yet to be added.

Due to no flash being used in order to pick up the lights, a slow shutter speed was used so please excuse the blurriness of the photos.

Thank you BA, looks like the Deagostini Jedi mind trick is working on us weak minded fools :laughing-rolling:

More shapeways parts arrived today, including my replacement R2D2, computer console, Chewy crossbow and the hall arch way. One hall arch fits nicely and the other I had to use a emery board nail file to sand back to size. If any one has an image of the computer console for reference, please post me the link.

Thank you Number 1

I've fitted some clear plastic around the side walls and painted sections using glass paint. I glued the side wall in place. It is a very tight fit into tube, so I sanded away some of the lower cockpit tube where the cockpit console touches. I hope I've got space to fit the EL lamp.

Very nicely detailed. I don't understand the lighteing system. It looks complicated just for lighting up the interior. Why so complex? I want to do something similiar but don't know how to. I thought it was just a matter of using one light source and lots of small fiber optics.
