Christmas Competition Rules

Here are the rules for this years Comp

The rules are:

1. The kits must have a max retail price of £15.
Note that this is RRP, not eBay or sale price. They can be any media. E.g. Plastic, wood, metal, resin, etc.

2. No aftermarket detail sets or accessories are allowed.
E.g. No brass etched detail sets, resin details sets etc. Etched and resin parts are OK if part of the kit, or indeed the whole kit, but not as an optional extra.
Aftermarket decal sets are allowed if you want to do an alternative colour scheme etc.

3. You can add extra details using common items such as wire, plasticard, wood, etc.

4. You can add a diorama if you wish, but it must be made exclusively from common items such as sand, sawdust, polystyrene foam, etc.
No commercial trees, oil drums, or jerry cans, light sabres, etc. Picture frames, cutting boards, coasters, etc. as the base are all allowed.
Take this rule as guidance rather than prescriptive as I'm sure you know the intent.

5. Judging will be decided by a poll, which will be open for 2 weeks after the end of the competition.

6. You must post a build diary, which can be as brief or as long as you like (though we enjoy reading build diaries !) but it should contain a photo of the box, parts laid out, some construction shots, and a shot of the finished model. Build diaries must be posted in this section.

7. There will be a thread for finished models. Photos of the finished models must be uploaded to the forum by Sunday, 31st Jan.

8. You can enter more than one model if you wish, to a max of 3. One thread per build diary and only one model per thread.

Good Luck!

Roy and Jess :D

If it is any consultation, I've had what would be an excellent and a very interesting build for the comp, it would have certainly be different, but it fell short on the RRP price by double :o

I felt that it would only be fair to the rest of the competitors that I will not be entering this as my Xmas build. However I decided to continue with the build but I will be posting my diary for it else where on the forum. Soon I will post a link to my original plan so that you can still follow and enjoy.

I've just ordered my plan B kit today and hopefully it will be here for Friday :D

Funny how despite the size of one's stash, one must simply go kit shopping for the Xmas comp. :shifty:

Hi,
I'm not too sure why you feel that this is a "commotion" as Roy and Jess have already stated that the Xmas Comp this year will finish "midnight (GMT) on January 31st 2016".

What Chill was referring to was whether he could use some filler with his own model. This is certainly a very good question! :)

Sorry Chill for overlooking your question, yes of course filler is allowed :D

Hi GREGHERD, as the other members have kindly pointed out, the comp dose end midnight 31st of January GMT (but not literally exact as we will give a little leeway to anyone who miss the deadline by a hour or two ;) but do make sure that you get your finished comp in by midnight to guarantee that your entry is valid, just in-case!) there is still plenty of time to enter if you wish to join in.

Roy :)
