Puma SA 330

Postby Mustang » Tue Dec 08, 2015 10:25 am

Hopefully if time and work allows,

I'll be doing a 1/72 Airfix SA330 Puma.

The SA 330 Puma is a four-bladed, twin-engined medium transport/utility helicopter. It was a commercial success and was quickly developed into more advanced models such as the AS332 Super Puma and AS532 Cougar.

The Puma has seen combat in a wide range of theatres by a number of different operators; significant operations include the Gulf War, the South African Border War, the Portuguese Colonial War, the Yugoslav Wars, the Iraq War, and the Falklands War.

Mine will be based on the NATO 2005 Tiger Meet, I'll need to adapt some parts and scratch build others. Then there will be the paint job

I have a number of ideas that I'll be adapting the basic kit. So I hope you'll all enjoy the build, I'll post photos of the basic kit later once I get home from work :angry-banghead:

Hi Ian,
I know that if you are able to build this, then you will do an excellent job! :D
As for the paint job - Oh Boy, you certainly don't make things easy for yourself, if I'm correct on what you are thinking of!!! :) :) :)
Just :) to Cause a Landslide - Some :superlglue: will be included .....

Cheers guys, :)

Here's a list of what I'm looking at doing.

Opening up the engine cowls, and add detail to the engines and scratch build the third engine.

Scratch build the air filters, the front ariel system, the internal sound proofing.

Convert the four blades to a stowed position, with scratch build holders.

I think that's all

Be lucky while researching the helicopter I found some decals that will do the job, and as the rules say different decals are allowed ;) still have to place all the stripes

The idea of the blades is just for display purpose, the only version of this helicopter I've found that had this is a French version. But I don't see why it should work on this one.

So as you would expect the level of detail is well.... I can't say as its a family forum

There's a K for the first person who has noticed what's missing  :angry-banghead: well it's not in the box but it might be in the box this was stored in in the loft

Oh Dear Ian,
One rotor short of a Puma SA 330

Hi Paul, if I can't find it then I'll have to look at making one from some plasticard.

And thanks for the K ;)
