Mustang gt500 build diary and mods

I Love the forum and got some great ideas for the build of this beast which I would like to share with you guys

I used an Edding paint fine point marker to fill in the wheel outline and brush painted the triangle inserts with satin black.
The tyre lettering was done with a white paint marker

Hi Mark and welcome :)
nice mod on the wheels
The Edding paint fine point marker,s are excellent for this kind of work, I use them for drawing/sketching
good to see another Mustang taking shape

When assembling the exhaust there was a gap at both ends so to get around this I wrapped the silencer in foil tape as with the prop shaft , I don't if anyone else has tried the foil I use as it comes on a roll the size of gaffer tape that you get from builders merchants for loft insulation and it lasts forever :D

Thanks for the kind comments.
I thought that the inlet manifold was to bright and shiny so I washed it down with dirty thinners and when dry it gives it a used oil stained look but you can't really tell from the pics.

Next up is the front brakes , I have painted the callipers gold, the back plates satin black and foil wrapped the discs.
I will upload the photos of this when I have assembled them as at the moment they are back in the blister pack.

I was going to put brake and fuel pipes on the underside and along the rear axle by using copper wire strands used in house wiring but because the rear brake drums spin with the wheels I decided against it as it would have meant locking up the rear wheels.

Here's some updated pictures of the completed chassis, i must agree with other posts that the build quality and detail could be better for such an expensive model but it's good to add your own touch.

It's been a while since I've posted any updates as I am on the interior build and to be fair the detail is pretty good left as it is apart from I've painted the warning lights.
I've had a play with the headers as they still look basic and I think it's amazing what such a simple mod by adding a few pipes here and there can do.

There are some builds going on out there that have had hours spent on modding and are truly fantastic.

I finally got play around with the fan and radiator , They should be black on the real thing but I thought I would add a bit of colour to highlight some of the detail.
Once painted I thought the belt assembly looks a whole lot better ,I'm not too bothered about the rough paint job on the front of the fan as you won't see it once assembled.

Very nice ! I know what you mean about needing a bit extra colour. My Brough Superior is black, highlighted with black !

Hi Mark,

The photos in this thread have become distorted, is there any chance of re-posting them?

This happened to my DB5 build diary after Admin Mark upgraded the forum.
