Don`t know why we get less for the money, but will add some extras like piping and figures if I get enough or have to convert some 1/48 scale ones, also every day items like tools, mags, cups, bottles, pictures and other things. Will see how it goes. Will wait now atleast 3 weeks before any updates, want those precut ply panels for the sides first before starting double planking, got some fast glass resin ready here as well to cover the wood so it will not shrink back and part where the planks are joined to each other. It will be a nice model and I am looking f/ward for the continuation. Well happy weekend all, can`t do anymore, black pearl is also on the stocks awaiting parts, so in the meantime I will do a small diorame with a german S-boat on a jetty. Will be fun that 1/72 scale. Not done one for a long time.
I am also glad I am back to normal, just got a busted knee now and taking morphium 4 times a day to keep the pain berable ( hope I do not turn in to a junkie)lol , until I get cortesone and steroid injections in me knee. That will hurt a bit and I hate needles. :o

Cheers for the tip, have messaged him. Would love it to do a diorama with a damaged german S-Boat. Would have to cut the corvette down to waterline which is not a problem.

If I tell Goering that I got some, he will climbing out of his grave to want some of me. Lol.
I think second layer will be ok but the planks we are getting are a bit to thick, that is why I use my own planks I got leftover froma a different job. Just have to wait for the plywood and PF bits for the hull before I commit myself to planking. The Summer will be over when we got those bits.

Hope I am not putting to many pics of the same work stage on here. :o (No finger tips left) By the way all done with the cheapo superglue from poundland, works fantastic and it is easy to sand and fill gaps.

Did some more filling and sanding and added the 1st primer coat. It is looking good until now. Wait until 2morrow before I start the sanding down again. I think I get away with just a few coats of primer before topcoat later in the comming weeks. :D

Hi, me again, Aldi are doing a multipurpose sander/cutter for £29.99 it's ideal for sanding down the planking, I used it on my Bismark and it worked a treat, Faster than by hand but also gentle, runs at up to 19,000rpm with a reciprocating sanding disc. I think the planking is deliberately thick so that you can sand it down to match the plastic parts which can be variable in the amount they stick out. Hope that's useful. Poundland superglue is definitely a useful adhesive and avoids all those pins.

Thanks for the tip. I used different thickness of planking for the second layer, had loads spare. Just primed the whole U-Boat with primer filler. If I loose any engraved detail I can use a pointy tool to remove the paint, You can still see some of the planking but it is only a few. Will take a few days priming and sanding until sorted. Like the paint to be really hard and not soft and clogging the sand paper.

The more I sand and fill and sand I still find little high or low points, but I think I now got it sorted and actually happy with the result, coming from a person who hates planking.

Only the wooden bits to fit in to the cut out and sand flush, after that the 4 brass plates to fit. Job done, waiting for the Bow section and the stern section before I continue. It was very straight forward to add the plastik bits on to the sub deck, not much filing required and thanks to thick superglue :superlglue: and accelerator it took minutes.
