Looking really good, but it occurred to me that when you open the fuel flap, you will see a brown interior - ?
Would it not look better painted dark green or even black around the fuel cap?

Great stuff though.
Keep it coming.

You've got a good point there Modelcarsman! The fuel cap is screwed in so can be unfixed. I think I will paint it as close to the body colour as possible! Thanks for the update!

Decided to fit carpeting to cabin floor. Used thin craft foam cut to shape.

Lower shot! I thought there might be a colour mismatch or even a seam showing but no! Perfect fit and colour is consistant! It just shows the quality of this kit.

Looking really good! And I'm delighted that both fit and colour-match are perfect. As I said earlier today on my build diary – the next batch of parts (for monthly subscribers like me) is an epic advance on the model.

Can I ask you a question about the LEDs supplied here – I’m a complete novice on electronics.

I’m guessing you will be attaching your bespoke LEDs for your modified dashboard lighting to these cables? Will you be doubling up with the use of a 2 to 1 cable connector which then connects to the microchip?

Also, can you point me in the right direction about exactly what type of LEDs you will be getting for the dash instruments, and if you’re using new connectors, can you specify the type to look for. I’m very keen to do this mod myself.

Thanks in advance

Hi there Wolfstantonian! Regarding the LEDs! I used standard 3 volt 3mm ones but not to bright. You can get ultra bright LEDs but they are to bright for the dashboard. As for fitting I just placed one behind each instrument and taped them in place using strong black insulation tape! I will be splicing into one of the main head light wires and soldering them in place then putting some shrink wrap around the join. The only thing you need to remember is to get the polarity correct! You wont do any damage as LEDs only let the current run one way but it wont light up! Just re fit them the correct way round. The only problem is that the model LEDs have two black wires so it will be a case of trial and error. I've yet to determine where to splice into the wires as I'm not sure where the wiring is going in the model till later on in the build!

Hi R2D2,

Thanks for that – I'll check out getting the LEDs you mention.

And I look forward to seeing how you work this mod when the time comes.

I'll see if there are such things as 2:1 connectors that would do the job without soldering and guessing which wires are which.
