Close up. Suspension works OK although there's not a lot of play. Next week is nearside suspension bits.

John,

I see you did what I did at first - fitted the anti-roll bar upside down! You have to follow the instructions exactly, which is not easy since it is hard to tell the anti-roll bar orientation from the 2-D photographs. Don't worry, it is undo-able as I found - one of the joys of the De-Ag 'no glue' method.

Cheers

John,

I am having problems with the wheel retention screws. They are very tight to screw on first time but then get very loose afterwards - will probably fall off in use. In my opinion, this is a very poor retention method for such an important part of the model. Have you encountered the same difficulty?

Cheers

Not really had any problems with the wheel retaining screws! They are a tight fit but I usually slightly open the screw holes with a small drill doing it by hand! I've found I've had to do this quite a bit with the Routemaster bus part work as some of the holes have a bit of paint in them. Not a big problem just need to be careful. If your worried about the screws coming out take them out one at a time and re screw them back in using a tiny dollop of super glue! Works wonders!

John,

Thanks for the advice, but I am a little worried about fixing the wheels permanently in place - I have more than once been thankful that I can undo joints I have made! My solution was to purchase a set of 6BA metal taps to thread the holes and use 1/4 inch long set screws rather than use the diddy self-tapping screws provided which only seem to have about 2mm engagement in the axle. The taps and screws were only about £10 in total from Maidstone Engineering Supplies (amazingly quick mail order service). Given the eventual cost of this model, I am disappointed that a properly engineered wheel retention method was not used.
Don't think this method will be needed on the rear wheels, thankfully, since the screws drive into plastic, which is a lot more forgiving.
Cheers,

Steve

There are no carpets in the kit so these might be useful...
