I've been busy so not done much. Yesterday I manage to find some time to solder and fill in the deltic body. Buffers fitted too, just don't ask how I manage to fit them, they were so fiddly.

My next stage is to find some time to start painting the deltic and the scenery.

This has reminded me to get my train ticket for Telford.

If the forum software lets me I am going to award a K in the hope you don't go blind

Thanks for your kind comments and K's, my eyesight has go worse when looking at anything close up, apparently it's just normal old age. I've lost count how many times I lost those buffers, I don't get on with tweezers, they tend to be too big as well as the small bits pin out from the tweezers. I prefer to use my nimble fingers, but then it's very fiddly trying to line up and glue the tiny bits in place. I got there in the end

That’s when you find out superglue takes an age to glue kit parts together, but glues parts to fingers instantly!

So true Mark :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Less glue sticks quicker, however I found that a tiny blob of glue was bigger than each buffer :o

Thanks Sojourner

I've added some base colour and it's now beginning to look good. I will need to add some more shades to the water and scatter and trees to the banks

And the Class 55 has been soaked in vinegar to clean it and to act as an etch.

I also sprayed some etch primer on it

great job Roy  looks very realistic with colour on it.
I maxed out also on Flickr matey but shane started another membership for me under his email, getting to be a pain having photos all over the place. I went to Photobucket yesterday to find a family photo to be told the account will freeze soon if I don't use it  . I have a three terabyte hard drive on my Mac and a separate drive still fairly empty, isn't there a way of utilising the space and sending images from my PC Roy  sorry off topic

Thanks Casper, Jess has now started another account for me ;)

I've painted the Deltic a blue colour, I'm not too sure if I like the shade  I might add a drop of olive green to the mix

ImageIMG_1925 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

The water had some various colour shading added followed by some cotton wool and high gloss varnish

ImageIMG_1922 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

I painted the tunnel mouths

These were added to the diorama

I made a cardboard tunnel support, the gap in the side won't be seen, but will act as an access for track cleaning

ImageIMG_1933 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_1934 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

I covered the tunnel with DAS clay

Now going to wait a few days for the clay to dry

Thanks guys

I decided not to change the shade of blue. I added some yellow and decor and the colour looks just right. The BR arrow logo and other decors I printed off and scaled down and stuck on before applying some clear varnish. The wheels modification was also painted black.

I took the photo with the Bic pen to show scale, the decors that I printed off was tiny

The Class 55 loco is now finished with special thanks to Mark

I hope to get a clearer pic at some point

I’d forgotten how small these things were!

Your tunnel mouths look perfect for hiding the auto reverse sensors.

Great job all round Roy

Thanks Mark,

I never thought about using the tunnels to hide the auto reverse sensors. The tunnels are there just to form a seamless join between the two sections. The way that I intend to display the diorama will automatically hide the sensors. All will become clear when I finish the build. I won't reveal the final display, but I've already test fitted it and it does look good, I'm very pleased with the way it's going :D
