thanks for comments - here is some more (a little but a lot) work I did this weekend....
Parts received so far .....Still thinking about getting the belts and the ducting - you can see it in the diagram ...
Image
Still working on the nose section - the cheek guns and the Nordon bomb site...
ImageImageImageImageImageImage
The Nordon bombsite is VERY tall - hope it's going to fit...
Image
On to the guns - tried out the Eduard 'brassin' ones first - may have to cut them and use the metal ones as discussed, the resin ones are nice but wharped - ....will have to add the PE gun site and sighting post..

Great work on the Norden pickle barrel , you wouldn't want warped 50 cals with Gunter Rall on your six.

Thanks all, it's a shame on those Eduard barrels - they're finely detailed - may try to heat and straighten before I have to get the razor saw she drill out ..... :angry-banghead:

That bomb sight is fantastic! much better than the kit one, but there's only so much you can do in plastic!

If you can use the master barrels with the Eduard bodies then the guns will look superb. you can see quite a lot through the glass in the nose section so I would also use Eduard's nose set

https://www.eduard.com/store/aircraft-and-helicopters/1-32/b-17e-f-front-interior-1-32.html?cur=1

Adding the navigator and bombardier in there would certainly fill it up and show that these things were not spacious!

Nothing for the Lancaster in Eduards' February releases. Try again in March! :D

Outstanding work, Morris. Using the turned barrels, although extra work just adds that extra sharpness and finish!

It makes me want to get my B-17 out!

I would like to know what you think of the Master details flexible ammo chutes and of the actual kit.

I think the Master Details are better mainly because they're white metal and you can shape them easily between the ammo box and gun - they have finer details too - the kit ones appear to be some sort of resin(?) - not as friendly if your gun isn't lined up perfectly - rougher detailing too....

I have two group questions:

- I didn't know it but there are two different fonts on the decal sheet for the "Memphis Bell" name - appears the end of the 25th mission font was smaller and straightforward - the more recognisable swirly written font must have came after she returned to the U.S.? Just wondering as the USAF rebuild in the Ohio museum uses the end if tour one.....

- I've cocked up and cracked a window removing from a sprue :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: - anyone ever dealt with HKM for replacement parts??

Let me know the sprue and number and I'll get in touch with the boss. I need a new nose blister as the one in my kit hasn't formed correctly.

Now, the Memphis Belle decals!

There are two versions on the sheet. The more swirly font is for the MOVIE aircraft while the other font is the real aircraft. It was decided that both would be included. I will check on the woman artwork because I think they were different on either side but I think that the paint/decal instructions cover this.

Oh great, I was hoping you would see this thread update, SD!!! Life saver! It's sprue Mm (big M, little m :D ) item 2 - the clear parts are crisp and as thin as you can make them - they're great - just my handling of some sprue snips was ham fisted...let me know where to send funds -

On the decals they're correct as you say checking against the Akron museum Belle that was just refurbished - according to that and the kit instructions, its the blue lady on the port side and the red to starboard -

Thanks SD!!
