MY BOTY

Postby corelki2005 » Wed Feb 12, 2020 4:04 pm

After an abysmal last 6mths to Christmas last year I am going to try and complete this one :D

right. This will get you guessing as to what I am going to pull out of the modelling hat!

There is no box, no sprues of parts, but there are loads of parts to put together :D

They are all going to be made by me. Well not scratch built but printed by me.

The eagle eyed among you will notice that there is a small piece broken off in the last pic, that happened while I was removing the supports. Hopefully I can rectify this when I glue the parts together if not then I will have to print it again (it took almost 30 hrs to print)

Any guesses as to what it is?

I know! I know!! (Jumps up and down excitedly!!)

However, that would be too quick an end to the game, so I'll keep quiet for the moment.

Nice project! Which printer do you have? (and do I need to create a new 3D printing section?)
Cheers

@ Roy no its not Artoo

although I printed in red filament, it actually looks salmon pink to me, so it will get a coat of red

@ Mark its a Creality Ender 3 - the build size is 220mm x 220mm x 250mm

Its such a slow process that I may end up buying one or two more (they are relatively cheap @ £158)

as to whether you should create a 3d printing section, if you think it warrants it then yes go ahead

although there is approx. 11mths left there maybe not enough time to finish as several parts take up to 3 days to print :o

If there is time I may add some electronics. i.e. make the eyes light up and make some leds flash in his brain

Well that didn't last long.

It is V.I.N.C.E.N.T. from Walt Disney`s the Black Hole.

A small update as I am still printing away :D

Pic1 is the two halves of the back pack
Pic2 is of the eyes
pic3 is the ears
pic4 is the top of the head

the eyes and ears have been reprinted due to a slight mishap when gluing them to the head, same goes for the two red parts of the head

As I am still a novice when it comes to 3d printing I have had a few failures, but hopefully now I have added a glass build bed and an auto bed levelling sensor I shouldn't get so many.

The only other problem is its quite wasteful in filament as you have to build supports for everything over about 50 degrees otherwise it will just collapse.
