Build log, Spitfire Mk-1a

Postby Morris » Mon May 25, 2020 6:33 pm

I will pick up at issue 2, since issue 1 was well covered by the previous test entry...these pics are issues 2&3....
Image
Issue 2 was completing the prop boss and assembling a small drive gear box.

Then issue 3 was parts of the engine block and mount...

Issue 4 next session....

Issues 8&9 continue the Merlin - supercharger, some plumbing, ignition wiring and the exhaust....nice detail; actually, on the engine. :)

It is more detailed than I thought it would be - no painting yet either - just application of superglue on many of the connecting pins as per instructions :D - I'm enjoying it more than I thought originally, Roy...I am also watching for your gynormous train set!

Still working in the 'office' - issues 15-16-17-18. Nice details and plumbing too...I livened up the gas cylinders with some paint. Other than that, the rest is as it came...Awesome partwork so far :D

When mounting the engine in the frame saddles, the magazine had an extra part and step that seemed to work okay. (It was an additional part and instruction to change the sequence of assembly in a separate packing) It must have been addressing a prior problem....but anyway, no problem thus far....?
