Here is a question,What connection is there with horse hair and the Lancaster ? well if you look closely at the bomb bay doors you will see that the seal consists of horse hair ! during the trials of the first aircraft various ways of sealing the doors were tried,the most successful was this natural material which was used on production aircraft,this effectively sealed the doors thus preventing the slipstream from entering at that point.
