A couple of months ago I fitted my dashboard camera which is a nextbase duo

Image

I ran the wire under the trim and fitted a cigarette splitter, they don't recommend to hard wire the camera into the car as this can cause damage to the camera

My new steering wheel came today

Image

Time to remove the old one

Image

Image

Looks smarter, plus being slightly bigger than the old one, I can now see the dials better and makes the steering easier

Hello Roy, Please tell me where you gained the following info....
"I ran the wire under the trim and fitted a cigarette splitter, "they don't recommend to hard wire the camera into the car as this can cause damage to the camera"
I feel a "rant" No a mega rant with Halfords if this is true
A cool steering wheel BTW
Cheers, Mike.

Only going by what is said in the instructions that came with my dash cam, however you can hot wire cams into the car, check you instructions first, might just be a disclaimer just in-case you wire it incorrectly and then you warranty is invalid

I'm sure if Halfords fitted it, you be fine and if any problems, it will be on their backs ;)

The new steering wheel does look better. It's a little more 'restrained'

I guess dash cams are getting more popular with more and more idiots and insurance scammers about.
Cheers

The Hard top has been primed and painted. Looks like tomorrow I'll be removing the soft top and fitting the hardtop on

The hardtop was finally fitted on Thursday night. Had to wait for the sealant to set on the new glass seal fitted to the rear window. Photos was taken Friday.

To be honest, Jess and I are not pleased with the results of the respray. Up until now, we have not said much.

Back in June of 2017, we had issues with the paint work. Paint started to, bubble and crack. We went straight back to Alan and Julie and they said that they would sort it. Back then, they still had the hardtop to complete and welding and under seal to complete.

We also were still losing air from the rims of our old wheels. The whole point of them sanding the wheels down and painting them was for stopping them leaking at the rims and not for cosmetic reasons.

Also the new window trim that we provided to them for the hard top was not fitted correctly, they failed to clean out the channel that holds the rubber, so to fit the trim, they cut the rubber trim and then used tiger seal to hold it in place. This came away again. I had returned to car to them to refit the trim, but again, the trim is not holding in place.

April this year the car went back to them to complete the underseal and welding. It was at this point they told us that they weren't going to correct the paint or refit the window trim as they wasn't going to guarantee it.

We have sent them 3 official letters of intent to take them to court to claim our money back. They have failed to respond to all our letters. No we are at the stage of now taking court action.

The leaking wheel rims are now so bad, the on Thursday, I replaced them with a set on new alloy wheels

New Front wheel on, the rear is the old one

Here are some pics that I taken today of the paint defects, these were the ones that the camera picked up, but there are many more defects where the camera wouldn't pick up, but are there

These are stone chips which is what you expect from driving around, but the car is full of them, the paint should be strong enough to deflect a stone without it causing any damage. But we feel the amount of stone chips on the car is very excessive for a years worth. The pic just shows a few of many.

That’s such a shame, after all the trouble you had to get them to finish it. Good luck with the small claims court. I can’t see that they’ve got much of a defence, but it might be worth getting some professional legal advice to make sure you do it right and know what to expect.
Cheers

Ouch ! Hi Roy and Jess, I'm sorry to read this  For what it's worth my advice would be to threaten them with the trading standards and/or the local press with your story of how you have been treated/cheated by these bandits, it's not like you have hounded / pressed them for a "quick fix" to be honest you have been more than patient with them  I have followed your posts about your "Eunos" I still recall Jess smile.
If I can help in any way PM me.

Thanks for all your support.

We tried to give them the opportunity to put things right as oppose to name and shame them. We have already have free legal advice and sent them all the appropriate letters. Our free legal team also have gone behind our backs and reported them to trading standards. I get the impression from our free legal team that their name has cropped up before ;)

We even contacted Judge Rinder before the summer and they had recently contacted us. Unfortunately, it's just a TV program and looks like the body shop people have decline to appear. It would have been a win win for them, because if we had won the case, then it's the TV company that pays out and not them.

We can quiet easily name and shame them on Face Book, but we decided that this could go against us if we do.

Glad you’re getting your ducks in a row, so to speak. Wise move not putting stuff on FB to! At least, not until after the court case!
