Thanks Number1 and Morris

I think the car did well considering it was nearly 30 years old and has been very reliable and cheap to run, most of the repairs I did myself. The only thing that let the car down was the body work and that's probably because I left that part in the hands of car repair shops and you never know if they take short cuts. I have had the underside checked every 3 years, any rust treated and underseal, the inside of the panels were supposed to be sprayed with waxoyl. The body work on the car went downhill very quickly after the last company touched it.

We are looking into getting a wheelchair accessible car, we can either purchase these 2nd hand or lease them on the mobility scheme. The cost of either is not much difference, so it seems that leasing may be the way to go, which means we don't own the car, but are not responsible for any repairs or servicing (except for any damage caused by misuse). It will be a brand new vehicle that we lease for 5years where after we apply for another new one. So leasing seems to be a no brainer.

Hi Roy, it’s a real shame that she has bitten the dust. Hopefully you can sell it for spares or repair and get a bit more than the scrap value.
Cheers

We are going to miss the car, I'm hoping to put her up on the MX5 facebook page for spares or repairs
