So far, I'm very pleased. Today Eunos was booked in for a MOT, also to have a new rear spring replaced (parts already purchased and supplied by me), wheels balanced and the brake and clutch fluid change.

The good news is apart from the broken rear spring that they found nothing else to fail the MOT on. The bad news is that the bolts in the lower rear wishbone are badly corroded and will need replacing and they recommended that I also replace the lower wishbone while it's out. Most of the parts are out of stock and are expected in sometime next week. So with a broken spring still on the car, then no MOT was issued until this is replaced, so could be another week a least (or more) before we can have a proper drive out :angry-banghead:

I've also taken the liberty to upgrade some other parts, so these are on order along with the lower wishbone, bolts and bushes

I've owned the car for 11 years now and the car has always been very good to me with the minimum of trouble. The last 4 months the car has given me the most trouble, mainly the body and paint and getting the MOT for it. The car had a broken spring which we supplied was to be fitted for the MOT.

The lower shock bolt screw straight into the lower wishbone, but with the inner thread on the wishbone rotten, the wishbone and bolts was also needed. These parts were out of stock and the suppliers were waiting for more to come in from Japan, transported by sea :angry-banghead:

After phoning around, I found someone that had all the parts needed, 14 in total.

We manage to pick up the parts yesterday thanks to a lift from the mother-in-law. The next problem was finding someone willing to fit them without having to book the car in 2 weeks in advance :angry-banghead:

I tried my local exhaust, brake and suspension centre (STS). Like many big companies, they have the time slot to do it the same day, but they will only fit the cheap after market parts that they supply at over inflated prices. But they eventually agreed to fit the parts which took them 4 hours to fit :D Not only did I get a big bill, but they also gave me a whole list of things that need doing with my car, they said my brakes were no good, my tyres needed replacing, I laughed and said that all these items passed the MOT, nothing wrong with my brakes and tyres which have good tread on them :laughing-rolling: These big companies do like to milk more work out of you that don't need doing.

Got my MOT for the car this morning :happy-jumpeveryone:

Was it all worth it?

Well thinking with my head, the answer is no, I would have been better of getting a decent second hand car and having spare change to put into the bank for emergencies.

Thinking with my heart, the answer is yes, Eunos looks stunning, the car is comfortable for Jess as she has to have her legs in an elevated position which you can't do in most cars. In the Eunos, you are sitting legs out straight. Also believe it or not, Jess's wheelchair fits better in the Eunos as appose to a bigger car.

Those old wiper arms did not look good against the new paint work and the stainless steel blades. And also our old speakers were not working as good as they should, so I replaced these.

Image

They look much better

Image

The door cards off for the new speakers, these are a better fit than the old and they sound better

One of the old carpet press stud that the tonneau cover attaches to had came away, I fixed this by drilling apart the old stud, I placed a penny washer under the carpet and a smaller but slightly larger than the stud washer above the carpet, a nut and bolt with thread lock held it all back in place. You can see the bolt in the centre and also just make out the smaller washer just below the stud in the next photo

Thanks for your comments. Jess and I are both over the moon :D

Almost 4 month without the car and the possibility it was going to be another couple of weeks or more before we could legally drive the car was really an unbearable thought. Hoping to go out for a long drive sometime soon :D

I collected my wheel hubs on Tuesday and they really set off the car

Eunos name badge needed some paint. Before I added the paint, I used a tooth pick to remove all dirt from the recess, I used Humbrol black gloss enamel
