Right I am determined to get my act together and start a thread on my Spitfire.

60 issues, Was published weekly about 3 years ago now (I think)

Few parts in each issue. Largest parts were the main wing ribs and leading wing edges, closely followed by the nose cone and cockpit. Made up mainly of balsa, plastic with a dash of lead weight and metal wheel struts thrown in for good measure.

The 'skin' is two tone green and grey heat shrink wrap. Along with stickers of varying decals.

Is four channel R/C controlled. Engine is a Leo 40 nitro fuel supplied.

The biggest bug bear was the wing tips- instructions were over complicated as it called for the wing tips to have a hollow middle, but on this build I wil leave the tips solid as it is doubtful it will fly (by choice)

Im using Alaphatic glue for strenght and properties for balsa sticking.

The motor looks like an ASP 40,the silencer extension is worth its weight in gold.
Good pictures,keep them coming,did it have a plan ?

The build instructions are just like the Lancaster magazine, few pages of instructions, some information on the Spitfire so on and so forth.
Will post some pictures of all the bits this coming weekend.

Better not use a sugar cube there. Could harm definitively the engine!

Havnt got a clue my friend. But I will set the penguins loose to find out...

I think it was described as a Mk.V Chill,I hope that your tame Penguin's are fully trained in aircraft recognition ?.

Oh yes -highly trained!

I've seen Penguin 0069 in action - he looks up and says, "Yup ! That's definitely an aircraft !"

First up -



The move obsevant amongst you wil see some are marked up A and B - A =full plane, B - equals spare bits which I got of Ebay for repairs.

Second sticker sets for the plane..



Some of the parts are built on top off paper templates - such as the tail fin and aeirlons:



Now the skin of the plane - think its called heat wrap you cover the wings etc and apply the heat source and shirnks to a tight fit:



Now the servos -got four of theses:

Well Chill you seem to have everything marked up and ready to roll,when you see that big pile of parts it looks enormous and only 60 issues as well,but you have plenty of spares.
Amazing how people buy these things and never get around to completing them so I bet there were some real bargain bits on E-Bay,I wonder if they will ever re-issue this one ? some models do as e know,anyway will leave you to sharpening up your balsa knife in readiness for the first assembly stages,keep posting them please.

Aye my second rol of the dice so to speak. Salavaged a load of bits from the destroyed one - servos etc. Thought it would be prudent to get spare props etc.

What a pity Chill,I have just sold a big lot of props on E-Bay a few weeks back,there must have been 70 odd propellers,remnants from my old model shop,they only realised a few pounds all sizes from 5 inch up to 15 inch monsters,as you know they are expensive to buy new.

She has not flown ever! having never flow an R/C aircrat there is no chance of me going solo on a Spitfire first time!

Did you have problems with the wing tips and getting them shaped correctly?

Hi chill,nice build, (s/fire)bought one at swapmeet without plumbing, electrics etc,already for flight just need info on center of gravity (C of G)could u help.
