Thanks guys :D

Finished the undercarriage now. This was far more difficult. My first mistake was to follow the instructions and fit the inner doors before the struts. That just filled the tiny holes for the strut locating pegs with glue
Anyway, I cut the pegs off. The next problem is that the struts are glued at the base, but the other end is bent, very flimsy, and no locating pegs :angry-banghead: So, apply glue, hold with tweezers and try to hold it still while the glue sets, hopefully in the right position. Then fiddle with the other end and try to get them somewhere near !

Got there in the end ! Well, it's somewhere close.....

Image

The outer doors where a breeze compared to what has just gone on. A little bend, then the glue onto the centre of the wheel. No indication about alignment, so a made the bottom of door parallel to the ground

Well, the engines make the undercarriage look like child's play ! See this strip, which is very long, very thin and bends as soon as you look at it ?
Well, it has to locate in the front of the engine, and then on every turbine wheel !! Guess what, it doesn't want to go. You have to handle it with tweezers, and there are just far too many notches to locate it in, and it just wants to twist flat, rather than sit in the notches.

Image

I think my best bet is going to be to glue the front end to the frame and front turbine wheel, then try to coax the rest into the notches in the other turbine wheels. Of course, they line up, almost, but not quite perfectly, and the strip has bent anyway, so it's going to be a real challenge !! I think it would be wise to get the engines finished and fitted before I move on to the wings....

Did I mention, there are 8 of the little blighters !! 4 on each engine :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:

Damn !!!!

Image

Even trying to cut it away from my thumb the metal to metal joint broke before it let go of my thumb :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:

....and the part bent (again !)

Thanks Casper :)

Half way through the engine bits now..... Only 4 left to go. Not convinced they are going into the slots int he turbine blades properly, but it's so difficult to see, it doesn't really matter anyway

Front undercarriage doors fitted now, although it's a bit difficult to see what's what in the photo !
I thought this was going to be difficult, but they behaved relatively well :o

Image

I decided to make a start on one of the wings. The main structure is a single part, complete with most of the ribs, that you need to find 90 degrees. Worth paying carefull attention to make sure you bend them the right way!

Image

Here is the wing with the missing couple of ribs added, and the spars. Compared to the engines, the wings are light relief.

Image

I think it's about to get harder though, there are some tiny parts in the air brakes !

That's the strakes on the engines done :D

Image

The next task is to fit the rings on the front and rear of the strakes. You can see one pair in the fret behind the engines. This isn't going to be that straight forward as the ends of the strake don't form a circle, by any means :angry-banghead:

great job mark, especially nice to see no live body parts attached to the latest assemblies  in this case I'd rather refrain from giving a thumbs up

I've learnt my lesson. Super glue may be super, but it isn't instant ! Best leave a good 20 mins before handling the joint......

A little more progress. I've added the ribs and spars tot he wing. There are still the trailing edge spars and the air brakes to add, and then the wing is finished. The other wing isn't far behind either.
