I also replaced the centre support in the engine bay as the plastic piece I added didn't work right, so I used thin metal.

The instruction have you building the kit with the rear horizontal stabiliser's in place before you join the fuselage together, I didn't like that way as I wanted the paint them separately.

So I drilled a whole though the fuselage.
Image

Added a piece of brass pole.
Image

This would allow for these to fit inside.

Just placed in place loosely.

Next was the pilot, I wasn't going to have him sitting in the cockpit. I wanted him standing outside the aircraft like he was waiting to get going.

So the kit gives you this.
Image

First job was to cut him up.
Image

Image

Then to try and rebuild him
Image

So using plasticard to hold him in place.

Fantastic amount of scratch building, must be one of the best detailed model Harriers out there.

Next I worked on the pylon release mechanism

This is what you get to make one release unit and theres two per pylon.
Image

I cut a slot in the rear section so the whole unit could fit straight in.
Image

At the front I cut the brass bit in half, so I could leave the plug to support the armament unit.
Image

Then cut out a small square to fit the unit into.
Image

In the end I ended up with this.

Image

Dry run to see how they looked.

Next was the cluster bomb that sits under the centre of the aircraft.

First part was to fit the brass top section, I also added two brass pins to help glue the bomb to the pylon.
Image

Image

Next was the support parts to make it look like there the true parts holding the two pieces together.
Image

Image

Image

Final part was to add brass rods to the small holes.

Next step on the pilot was to change the guys head. So I brought some figures to use as ground crew, and used one of the heads for the pilot.

I also managed to remove the old head from the helmet.

Made a drink bottle.

The kit doesn't come with any detail for the canopy DET cord.

The DET cord was designed to crack the canopy before the seat and pilot hit it.

So I managed to find a guy that made this for me.

Once fitted it look perfect.

The base was just made up from scrape bits I had in the garage.

First need to work out the size of the base.
Image

Then added some edging to the base.
Image

I used some grass sheets.
Image

Then added the flock you use on railways.
Image

Secured this with a mix of wood glue and water sprayed on.
Image

Image

Then just kept adding different colours to get the look I wanted.

All the extras
Image

Image

You'll notice on the sign a slight colour distortion in the corner, This happened when the red pen I was using decided to leak. So I added so yellow and darkened it down then on the back I made it look like rust was starting to effect it.
