Rocketeer Movie - Gee Bee Z model racer FINISHED

I still watch that movie a lot. Figured I would try the Williams kit out and see how I handle the rigging - Last time I tried it, well it wasn't pretty....Image

Started with the cock kit - By what little bit of research I did I figured it was wood and aluminium with cloth - didn't do a lot with the instrument panel as its shoved way under the cockpit enclosure....

I think its an U.S.A. outfit - been bought out a few times - fairly old - mainly do in between the wars stuff.....moulding quality ain't great - but the decal sheet is and the instructions have full side and top general view drawings to scale (I'm going to try to use them as templates for the paint work....except for the cowling emblem - I'm trying to make that myself with clear decal paper and a printer....may need to find a shamrock with fatter leaves...

Inching toward the complex paint work.......the P&W Wasp engine was straightforward

Yes I did - both versions by Moebius - I stayed away from aircraft models for years, I just never had the patience, I guess..... - mainly I fooled around with 1/6th repaints and figure/scifi models - After I finished the DB5 on this forum,,,,,, I watched the aircraft builds on this forum. The professionalism got me hooked again....anyway yes, below is the single one and the later one with the victim - torch lighting kits were used for both....

I am trying to figure our the best way to paint the red trim on the 'batwing' design on the wings' leading edge and the fuselage...cant bend decal stripes that tightly - not sure where to go with that - or leave off....

The yellow came out really well. I always have problems painting yellow...... My most hated colour in the palette.

The Count Dracula models are amazing !! Well worth a K !

Thanks all for looking in - more work done - Just the rigging, cowling with the homemade decal that hopefully works and the teeny canopy to do.....
