1/32 P-26A Peashooter

Postby Morris » Mon Nov 27, 2017 7:46 am

Sorry to turn around and start again, but I was working on this during/towards the end the Tiger Moth kit....A blast from the past that I got my teeth into and wanted to see if I could finish it - ....these is maybe 5 pieces to the cockpit tub, Added a seat cushion and lap belts...The engine is detailed - I just built and painted it - remember the part 19 and 21 cylinder exhausts go on later as they're longer and go into the fuselage :DAnd the bomb rack....I made them practice bombs

A little bit of an update - I totally botched my first attempt at painting the flourishes on the landing gear spats, skirts...SO I cleaned them up and backed away for a bit - worked on other parts of it whilst trying to think of a way to paint the shapes better... :angry-banghead:
I have to open the port side cockpit door - will get to this - The plane has one that is similar to the Spits' one....wasn't paying attention till too late but I place the US ARMY decals on first - on the port wing underside, I didn't place it far enough inboard so it shoved my star emblem out further - Must pay attention in class, Morris!

Another outstanding build coming Morris!

Never mind about the underside decal placement Very few people will notice that when it is the right side up!

Masks for the Dornier insignia came today! :D

I've managed a bit more on the cockpit and closed up the fuselage after performing razor saw surgery on opening the pilot access door.opening the door gives a view of the cockpit better....Now I need to find some Interceptor Blue paint and then re-try masking the flourish style paint trim.... :D

Some of the 1st stage painting done on the fuselage and wheel spats - There are no decals for this portion (in the right colour) and Im following the box art rather than the instruction's colour scheme which has a lot more yellow than white.....So it's a lot of hand cut masks and hand painting.... Oh, found some interceptor blue, using Tamiya TS-44

Amazing work Morris. You much have the patience of a saint to cut those masks by hand!

Assembled the major components - Have the small jewellery to do such as gun sight, windscreen, antenna and pitot tube. Before that I intend to install all of the bracing wires

Hi Morris, would love to "see" the build with a "blank" back and fore ground to really show it off, just thought ;)
