As both Morris and myself has jumped at the opportunity to get Airfix's newest beast in 1/24, I have started this thread so that those of you considering this can see the information that I gather to supplement the build and provide extra detailing, colour etc.
With most kits (especially airfix colour call outs you come across something which just strikes you as odd or not quite right and so it is to the original aircraft survivors we must look. I have put this in the mess section so anyone who may come across something relating to the Hellcat (FAA - Hellcat II) such as extra detail parts, colour schemes. squadrons etc can join in and post their findings.
Particularly interesting for a 3 tone Hellcat

https://www.cybermodeler.com/aircraft/f6f/f6f_profile3.shtmlAs I have been looking through the building book, something strange hit me with colour call outs while building the gun bays ammunition box and feed as bright red and yellow was called out for the feed covers. I thought that this could be a mistake until I came up with this

This solved my issues with that colour call out. Just have to think how to do it and which shade of red to use! I don't have confirmation, but I strongly suspect that the FAA Hellcat would be the same
Anybody got other stuff?
