I am going to try to build a Revell 1/28 scale Fokker DR1 as the Blue Max movie Triplane. Here's some movie stills....

Worked on opening the engine cowling similar to the movie plane. Then I tried to simulate the fixed radial engine and it's reversed exhaust manifold. (The actual DR1's had rotating engines )

Blimy Morris, is there no stopping you? :laughing-rolling: interested in how you do the camouflage on this one! The engine looks good, apart from the exhaust is it how it comes out of the box?

Yes sir, the good old Revell one, Red Baron. I have a few of them. I am going to do the iconic version also(the Red and white scheme he never really used, but it's the most published one ) when I finish the Blue Max one...

Anyway, added my home made decal work and continued to detail on the front cowling...the prop I painted I was a bit disappointed with - thinking about getting an aftermarket one...

As I'm still waiting on some upgrade parts for the Blue Max plane, I built one of Richthofen' Triplanes straight out of the box in the first livery...still have some rigging left to do. Also the decals were extremely old and brittle - the covering I used to hold them together silvered badly...got to see if I can sort that :? :(

Finished the iconic Red Baron DR1 - straight out of the box except for EZ line, some florists wire and I trimmed the engine cowling open more.....decals were a pain due to their age, very brittle..

Decals look amazing, could you have made replacements for the red one?
