Nice to see you back Poul. I also enjoyed watching your skills on the Richelieu build and will most definitely follow this one as well.

I'm considering a small scratch build later on if I'm ready to resume model building and for that I will need your assistance if you allow.

A K for starting the build and as a :text-welcomewave:

Hi Coenie,
Thanks ffor the K :D
If you enter (or re-enter?) the wonderful world of scratch building, then I'll certainly try to you help if I can :angelic-sunshine:
Just keep in mind that 'Prinz Eugen' is only my second scratch build, and third model overall.
Cheers .... Poul

Yes - the matchstick strikes again !!! :flags-australia:

I am getting good progress with the funnel section and should be able to show some pics of the result in a week or so.
In the meantime here is a pic of some of the parts I've been working on, the loudspeakers and the siren:

Image

Damn small stuff :angry-banghead:

(Click on the picture to see a bit more of the siren. I must remember to use a width of less than 800 pixels.)
Cheers .... Poul

Nearly all parts for the funnel section are finished and primed. Only the supports for the perforated platforms, the bend tops on the two large vents/pipes, and the rear perforated platform are still to be done.

The funnel is now assembled as far as possible before painting and here are some pics as promised.

Here are all the parts together:

Platforms and funnel top have to be brush painted before assembly.
The rest will be spray painted.

Hello again,

I have had a little break - it's summer now and I love the cricket, so it has been difficult to get away from the local oval or the TV,
But in between I have started planking the front deck (a boring task  ), and I should be able to post some pics of the progress in January.

In the meantime stay safe an enjoy the festive season :text-merryxmas: and :text-happynewyear:
Cheers .... Poul

I remember spending Christmas in Perth WA in '89. It was blasting hot, and admired the Santas melting in their suits!

Growing up in Scandinavia, I admit that it can sometimes be difficult to catch the Spirit of Christmas while hiding under the air conditioning in shorts and T-shirt when it is 35C outside.
The forecast though for Christmas Eve is sunshine and 24C, and 30C for Christmas day :D .

@Marcus: In July'/August it's winter in the southern part of Australia and the wet season (rain not snow) with temperatures averaging 5-10C at night and 10-15C during daytime in the Melbourne area.
Cheers .... Poul

Hi again to All :)

I have been absent on this site for a while, but that doesn't mean that the build has stopped - just getting slowly ahead.
So I hope you will bare with me

Since my last post, I have finished planking both the main deck and LV1 deck, and on the hull all portholes have been mounted together with the degauss cable on both sides plus the armour reinforcements.
The Bottom level front superstructure is also completed and I have started on the rear one as well.
So until now there hasn't been anything exciting to post.

Here is a pic of the ship at its current stage:

Yes, I bought the PE book there (but the postage exceeded the book price :x )
An excellent book. Only very minor deviations from the real ship.
It must have taken an enormous time to create it in 3D.

Welcome back Poul ! Print Eugen is starting to look like a proper ship now. Can't wait for you to get into the fiddly little details :D
