Zvesda - The Black Pearl

Postby Morris » Sun Nov 20, 2016 10:37 am

Here is a pictorial build log of the Zvesda Black Pearl (1/72nd scale styrene). I worked this for about a year, 2013/2014 time....Really liked the kit - struggled with the rigging and the lower deck cannons - will go into that later - Here is the first leg of the build...

Closed up the hull, added some deck items and upper hull gear....

As I went along, the problems of handling her as she is big, came to light. I kept breaking the cannon loose......the lower deck ones had to be fished out and re-glued.....

Mast and rigging work start - I don't pretend to know the proper rigging and just went by the diagrams best I could....

She looks amazing. I'm not generally a lover of sailing ships done in plastic, but you've certainly brought of the best in the kit. The paintwork on the sails is outstanding. Especially the shading and the patches.
Cheers
