Thanks guys :)
Mark I see you airbrushed the inside of your cowl black, As my Honda is white and blue what would you recommend the inside colour should be.
I was thinking of matt white or a white primer

I had a search, but couldn't find any pics showing the inside of the cowl. It seems to be white around the inside of the scoop, so my guess would be all white.

dont supposé you know what blues to use for the bike  I have looked online but can't find any reference to them.
would prefer to use vallejo paints as that is what will be used for the white and white primer.
cheers

Sorry, I can't offer much help. I would avoid putting Tamiya paints on top of Vallejo though. I've had them react.
The closest to Tamiya X3 seems to be 71.313, but that looks a bit too muted to me. Might be OK if you can get a good gloss topcoat ?
Might be worth asking, or having a hunt on some of the other modeling forums to see what other people have used.

There is a paint conversion app on the iPhone, iModelKitLight which is quite useful. Not sure if its on Android or not.
Cheers

This page has the colour names and codes. Not sure that will help much though :?

Thanks for the info and links Mark and for asking on the Tamiya FB page :) lots of info to look through.
more progress on the tank and rear end ? lots of sanding and a little Tamiya putty on the rear part but the tank was the worst part as it had two big seam lines on both sides to sand down.
I used vallejo paints and started with a white primer, then the white and Blue then the gold pin stripe.
The masking between each coat was a chore but I'm pleased with the results thus far :D The light blue I used is maybe a little bit dark but in natural light looks a pretty good match so now to get the darker blue correct
The decals look a bit challenging for me but I will give it my best shot. The tank is almost ready for the clear coat :D

Thanks guys :)
I didn't fancy doing the gold decal stripes :shifty: so did my own with metal-color gold leaf, the metal-color range from Vallejo are pretty good.
The tank was clear coated then the Honda Decals (very thin) were added and a couple of quick clear coats to finish, will let that fully dry now before polishing.
The front forks and wheel have been assembled but the wheel nut will have to be changed at some point. Bare metal foil was used for the top of the forks but if i were to do another bike I would prefer to paint them. Lower forks were painted Metal-color dull aluminium.
The engine has had a coat of Metal-color gun metal (not metallic) and looks to be a good match, a little dry brushing should add some detail before adding the pipes and fitting it into the frame then the carbs can go in.

Thank you so much for your comments guys :D really appreciate it
I'm pleased with the choice of paints (vallejo) they really give a nice smooth Finnish, not perfect but hopefully tamiya polishing compound will shine them up a bit.
I added the engine to the frame and also painted the rear cowl in white, Model Air Dark Mediterranean Blue and clear coat. The pipes rubbed a little on the engine so a small amount of touching up to be done :( the paint is very delicate until clear coated.

off out to get some :happy-sunshine: :obscene-drinkingcheers:
decals later :shifty:
later guys :)

at last its up on its wheels :)
the piping that comes with the kit is very thin and kinks when you try to bend it so a little wire insert helps to keep it in shape, I had to change a couple.
