Thanks Morris.

I've been working on the engine with the transkit I got from Scaledetails, all I can say is I wish I hadn't brought it.

In my personally opinion its not worth the amount of money, I've ended up replacing and adding new better sized nuts and bolt to the kit from Prime-Miniatures instead as you will see.

Anyway first up I've covered the centre console for the roof in leather and added some bits, the centre black circle is removable so I can secure it in later with a screw once I've worked out how to cover the interior of the roof.

So on with the engine upgrades.

This is the transkit parts
Image

Image

Plus about 6 pages of instructions which 3 are of photos of the engine which are so badly printed that you can't make out the details properly, so I've spent many hour searching the web for better images.

One good bit is that the bags are labeled up for which section of the engine they are for.

I'm upgrading the parts in order of the build instructions and not the transkit way.

So we start with these parts.
Image

The transkit gives you these to use which look like O Gauge lost wax.
Image

But I preferred this way instead. Slightly small and look way better.
Image

Which is managed by using the cut of's from brass screws used else where and nuts.

Next the side units.

Image

I used the screws that came with the transkit as per supplied.
Image

But on the side plate your to use the same size, which doesn't look right, it looks to large so replaced with prime instead slightly smaller.

Next was the oil feed and return pipes, these are what you get in the transkit.
Image

Again to me looks wrong and you can't bend them, which if you are installing into the car needs to be done. So again scrap them and replace with some spares I had.
Image

Also place them in the correct positions.

Lower engine half.
Image

All parts added, but I used the lost wax instead of the larger bolts.
Image

Both sections together.
Image

I've also replaced two of the nuts with allen heads and drilled out the middle of the nut.

Upper half of the engine block.
Image

Upgrades added.
Image

The Transkit tells you to place the small piece with the holes in on to the clutch plate housing, this is incorrect and should be placed here.
Image

I've added some micro bolts to this piece as there not supplied in the transkit, plus the transkit calls brass nails micro screws :?: no there nails.

Next I opened up a small section on the clutch housing.
Image

Then found a small 1/35 scale hatch, which I cut in half-ish.
Image

Image

Which in turn formed the clutch.

So not to waste the nuts that I didn't like, I've added them to the front suspension.

Thats it, I've had to place another order of screws, so once they arrive I can carry on with the clutch housing and the rest of the engine.

Beautiful work Mustang. Good idea using smaller bolts on the engine, and the transmit bolts on the suspension.
Your upgrades make the basic kit look quite toy-like.
Cheers

Cheers guys, heres the next update.

Clutch bell housing.

Engine mount supports.

Starter motor.
Image

The instruction shows the smaller bolt on the other end but this is wrong and should be placed here, I'll be adding more to this later.

Next is the carbs.
Image

Image

Again I've replaced the bolts with smaller ones, you also get the throttle control which is as shown but you need to make a support for it.
Image

Not great but it does the job, but make sure it clears the air intake covers.
Image

Image

Again I'll be adding more to this part as the transkit gives you some pipes but just tells you to glue them into the top of the outlets which is the piece with 6 nipples on but that doesn't look right.

Cam belt covers.

The previous owner has glued all the bits in place.
Image

So I had the saw the alternator off in order to add the upgrade piece.
Image

Then remove the plastic fan part.
Image

I added a piece of the plastic on top to re-aline the belt grooves.

Cam Covers.
Image

HT Leads.
Image

You get some wire in the transkit to replace the HT leads as there to short in the kit, but you have to remove the spark plug covers and the boot. You also get some small metal discs which I replaced with plasticard as it was easier to drill, you also get some metal bits "as seen in the first photo" to use for the cable holders but again I didn't like them so just use the kit parts.
Image

Image

Nuts added.
