The groundwork was nice and dry this morning so after it had a good tap to remove any loose material and then using a tippet and some diluted PVA I added some saw dust rough pasture scatter to add a little colour but you have to be careful not to add to much, I did and had to use a damp brush to lift some off again. Looks ok now though :)
Less is more.

Added a couple of roof sheets using some G-Glue and will add nail heads later then weather them up, I just have to make a tin ridge part for the top. The wood edging has had a similar wash as the shed to tie it all in.
Still have work to do in and around the tractor tracks and muddy areas but need to finish off the tractor so the two can be done together and fixed in place. I will do a dry fit photo later to see if everything looks to scale

Dry fit
Coming together now but still a ways to go yet. I"m happy that the two vehicles look pretty much the same scale but it doesn't leave much room for anything else. I have a a few ideas for the inside of the van even though you won't see anything when the roofs on, I could leave it removable
The tractor needs the steering racks? fitted and the batterie needs doing as well, forgot all about that.
I should change the thread title to "Shed find"... it looks smaller than I thought it would with the VW inside it   just about got away with it i think.

Thanks Morris ;) :D I love doing this kind of stuff, its a lot of fun.
I'm a little apprehensive about doing the rust powders and washes, some look very bright but I "just need to go for it" as the Mrs says :)

A break from the "Shed" for a bit to make up some Barbed wire for a fence. It's fairly easy to make, you just need an hour some wire and some patience.
I used 28 gauge copper Beading wire as it looks about the correct scale but hard to tell until I make one up. I have two types of the wire, one in copper and one with a black coating. I decided the Back coated stuff was the best.
After running some 600 grit carefully down the wire to remove some of the black it gave a really nice look to it.

Its close  the colour looks perfect with the black and copper, a little hard to make it out in the photo.
A little graphite powder here and there should Finnish it off.

I decided to make up some more barbed wire using 5 amp fuse wire for the barbs.
Time to make some fence posts.

I made up some fence posts from 5mm square balsa wood ruffed up with a scalpel and weathered the same way as the shed and attached the barbed wire with U clips cut from fuse wire and pushed into place with a couple left loose. I think I got the scale round about right  I was going to put the fence on the other side behind the shed but it fills out the left corner of the diorama and give it some hight. Just need to glue them in place.

Two more roof sheets to add to the other side of the roof and a couple of tin ridge pieces but while I have the room its probably best to do some ground work inside the shed.

Tamiya do some 1/35 scale farm animals, but they're a bit small. I didn't see any 1/24 animals available.....
Cheers

I think you can get some Chickens in 1:24 in the dolls house range, but you may need to purchase them from over the pond.

I made up a mix of Mig wet ground mud splashes, fine dried dirt, some fine gravel dust from the Arid mix I used earlier in the build and a small amount of fine plaster thinned with some odourless thinners and applied it in and around the tractor tyres and muddy track. It gives a good wet look to the area and gives a good base for the next step of adding Mig Damp earth splashes (lighter dryer shade) and some Mig Wet affects in some of the muddy tracks.
The area is nice and dry this morning and came out ok so I can today add some more mud and splashes to the tractor and attach the rear wheel guards.
The VW has had some more fine weathering using Mig engine grime washes around the engine bay and the rusty chrome VW hub caps have been fixed in place. The barbed wire has had a dry brush of silver and a small clump of cotton wool to look like sheep wool bought on a barb :) I know  bit over the top but why not :animals-sheep:
