Polar Lights 1:25 scale 1966 TV series Batmobile

Postby Paul » Wed Mar 13, 2013 7:56 pm

Polar Lights offer a number of options for 1:25 scale, though also 1:32 for one model of the 1966 TV series Batmobile.

In addition they offer the Bat Boat, and the Bat Bike (I think...), again from the 1966 TV series:

The first one I'm attempting is the Snap Together one, though apparently :superlglue: ( :laughing-rolling: !!!!) and extra painting options are available. :)

First up is a pic of the goodies in the slightly battered box (no parts have been harmed, as I've already checked :) ) and a badly removed sticker included (not me I hasten to add!!!! :laughing-rolling: )

With the Snap Together version, Batman and Robin are already painted, along with most of the exterior of the car:

However, certain parts of the interior are not and even some of the external detailing......

Also, before I can start to paint the extra bits, I will need to try and reference the Master Model reference numbers to either Humbrol or Tamiya, though I've not been able to do so yet

Great looking kit Paul. The body paintwork looks really good in the photo.
should have a lot of fun building it. Be interesting to see the difference between this one and the deluxe version.
The bat-boat would be good to do, you could make your own trailer for towing it behind the batmobile

Hi Casp,
The Deluxe one turned up today :D this one would be right up your street! :)
Everything needs painting, well apart from the clear and chrome parts!
Loads of different variations on a lot of parts
More decals
Photo etched parts

I could carry on !!!!! :)

Hi Casp,
I'll start a Deluxe thread at the weekend with a couple of taster pics and hopefully more info, though I won't start it until I have started and even finished this one !
However, a comparison of the two might be of interest to other board members etc :) :)

paul the clear parts cannot be messed up then  sorry I'm so nasty today...
I was just about to start complaining that you've bought a fully painted model but the special edition (and the fever as I'm in bed again) has calmed me down ;)

Hi BA,
The basic version is mainly painted, though not e.g. the fire extinguisher and the silver behind the seats etc

Also, a correction of the clear parts, as the windscreens need silver adding on the edges

My banter with BA aside :) :laughing-rolling: , this version of the Batmobile does offer numerous options to paint, albeit not major ones like the body shell.

First up will be the chassis (assuming I can get the paints tomorrow from my local model shop, else I'll have to order on-line which will delay things).

Below is a pic of the underneath of the chassis as supplied:

Image

The detailing on it is that good that it deserves to be painted!

I'm also still trying to work out the Chevy Red from Model Master colour scheme, though it seems to have an orange tinge to it just like my Xmas comp Tangoed Mini !!!! :laughing-rolling:

Going back to the chassis, I'm thinking of a gloss black for it, then doing the detailing, though on the rest I am really unsure on what colours to paint the various parts, so any help would be much appreciated :) :)

great shot of the chassis Paul. The original Batmobile had a Matt finish but was later changed to gloss black.
You have some good detail of the turbine and drive shaft Paul
