I decided to drill al the holes in the front chassis and test fit the front framework while I was at it. That was a bit tricky. Lots of bending, and straightening, and a bit of filing, but it's close enough now.

Now the chassis is ready for a lick of paint. Now, to go for a satin black, of perhaps a very dark grey. I think black is a bit too dark for a small scale model. Dark grey might look a bit more realistic.

I've got some paint on the model now. I went for German Grey. That leaves me to option to add some details in black and maintain a contrast. I think it looks better.

Now I can start adding some detail.

Plodding on slowly with this. A couple of details have been added to the engine bay and cockpit now.

The next task is the seats, and the engine is coming together slowly.

Still making slow but steady progress with this kit.

Working on engine at the moment. Here is the block, heads and supercharger.

I went mad and updated this thread with pics on Flickr. Nice not to have that really annoying Fartbucket image in the thread. Can't promise to do it for all my threads though....

For something so small it's packed with detail.
Are the seats cast metal Mark.

Thanks Casper. Lots of detail. In fact it's better than the 007 DB5 !!

Yes, the seats are white metal castings, with photo-etched seatbelts. They are painted, and I just need to fit the belts to the seats, then they can go in. I'm worried that the paint on the belts might crack and flake off when I bend them Not a big problem, unless it's where the decals are !!

Nice to see you restored your photos on this thread. Will you be painting the engine? The engine looks very realistic without any paint,

I will be painting it. The block is grey, and the head silver with gold cam covers.

Some of the photos have disappeared. The auto upload uploaded several duplicates. Of course, Murphy's law being what it is, I deleted the wrong ones..... I'll fix it sometime soon.

That's the photos re-linked..... If I find any more duplicates, they can stay there !!

On to the seats. These were painted black, then masked and painted blue. Unfortunately one of the decals weren't crooked, and stuck down solidly. I couldn't get it to move, even with lots of water and a stiff paintbrush. Annoying, but nothing I can do about it. The seat belts are etched parts, painted red, then glued on with Krystal Klear.

Then the seats were glued in place and the shoulder straps added. They fix onto the rear of the cockpit, so had to go in afterwards. There are some fixings still to go on, which are TINY !!

Just for fun, I plumbed in the fire extinguishers !!

Really coming along nicely.

Shame about the crooked decal, at least it's not just me that puts decals on crookedly ;)

Love the seats and seat-belts, the colours looks good too

Hi Mark
Seats look really nice especially in blue with the red belts. Shame about the decal but they really look great and and will be difficult to see after the roof goes in place.
 :)

Thanks chaps. The decal was really annoying, but it's not far enough out to risk completely wrecking it, and will be less noticeable in the finished model (I hope !)
Considering the size, the close-up photos aren't being too cruel for a change.

Made a start on the dash. The level of detail is incredible !! However, there are lots of very tiny decals.....

These are the fiddly bits at the back of the seat. They aren't mentioned in the instructions, but the bits on the fret looked right, so I used them ! They don't seem to be used anywhere else.

Thanks Wingnut. Work is progressing on the engine too. Still trying to decide if I can add the plug leads or not..... I think I probably should, but it'll be a bit of a challenge.
