Thanks Casper. Its nice to be given the trust and responsibility to repair these models. Some can be quite valuable and delicate but if done properly look awesome.

Re: Dover transport 1/4 scale model chassis

Postby MODENAMAN » Wed Aug 16, 2017 7:28 pm

Members may or may not know that the chassis posted on July 9 is a German HOHM model with an electric motor. There are various versions but hey were used to train learner drivers about the workings of the various car components . They are very collectable now. Emil Hohm was an Opel dealer and started producing these in the 1930's for driver instruction.
There were also individual system models , I attach a picture of a steering system by Hohm - to buy these now you are looking at £750 + for a complete chassis in average condition.

Thanks for your photos and info on the 1/4 scale chassis at the museum modeaman. This is one of the models I'm going to have to repair when my foot gets better. I will also be doing the model show on the 19th and 20th of this month as the museum really want me to show my model cars and are arranging for them to be transported there for the show including me! I'm looking forwards to it!

Last part of display. My display is set out in date order of the cars from 1885 to 1987. This represents 100 years of motoring. I had a lot of positive comments on my models from the public and eventually these models will be on permenent dispaly in the museum.

Some other models on display. I couldn't get round to see them all because of my broken foot but these were near me.

It was really a nice couple of days doing the model show and now that my models are at the museum they are going to keep them in a secure place until they build the display cabinet! I can't wait for my foot to get better ( Ive got another three weeks in plaster ) to help them get it ready!

That looks like a great show. It will be on my hit list when I repatriate.

Thanks Mark! The museum is great with loads of exhibits to do with transport. They also have loads of motor bikes from the earliest to the modern. Most of there vehicles work and are driven around the grounds and roads. If anyone is in the Dover area come on in and have a look.

Have had the plaster finally taken off my foot! I'm allowed to put a bit of pressure on it but it will still take a few weeks for it to settle down. Hopefully I will be walking normally by then and I can get back to normal! Thank goodness!
