Star Wars Kylo Ren Tie Silencer Custom

Hi Guys :)
Not your typical model kit but its a good base to start ;) :)
this is just a custom repaint I'm doing for my Son Shane, I wasn't going to post this here but It may be of interest to some Star Wars fans and its a good place to keep track.
Its a Hasbro ship from the Force Link toys and figures range and at £15 in the Black Friday sales Its a bargain, you don't get the wrist Force Link with the ship thats extra so I got one off e-bay for £6 and that should be here in a couple of days.
So first thing to do is get all the parts out of the box and see what can be done to improve it

Image

Its a big ship measuring 45cm long to the tip of the guns to 13cm wide
The Kylo figure is from the apron 4" high, My son Shane collects the larger more detailed Black Series figures, they are much better than the smaller ones and have cloth capes but a ship for a figure that size would be huge.
Image

The ship has two layer cannons that shoot out the sides with bright green missiles but these I think will be glued shut, depends on what sounds and lights come on but I need the wrist link first.

That hatch hinge will have to be looked at  The interior of the cockpit is very detailed and should look good with some paint and washes, I think a red LED shines from the back of the cockpit but no bulb  all will become clear when switched on.

The wings are long and very detailed, not many reference pics on the internet apart from in the Battlefront 2 game and one or two frames from the film but the ship is a prototype and was painted in black so a mixture of shades and damage should make it look somewhat better we hopes  :)

The underside of the main section of the ship has a blue wireless icon that is supposedly the point at which the wrist band connects but when the ship is taken apart you see nothing the other side. The figures also have a blue icon on the bottom of the foot

The rear section has some LED's inside but no batterie  this just clips to the back of the main section

Once the six screws are removed the ship comes apart with ease then the cockpit can be removed.

Image

Lots of nice detail but I cant see Kylo hanging up a active light saber :laughing-rolling: so those clips will be removed.

The cockpit was a pain to paint, I airbrushed the walls in Nato black but it just wasn't dark enough so I re sprayed with Tamiya X-1. The floor was hand brushed in thinned Gun Metal Grey and some of the components in semi gloss black then a coat of semi gloss clear. It would have taken ages to mask all the different areas and when the lids on you won't see most of it
As you can see the cockpit is very small but has most of the details you see in the film segments (not many) And Kylo looks huge in the chair :laughing-rolling: If I can route a red LED to the cockpit I'm hoping it lights it up just enough to see inside.
The wrist Force Link starter set has another Kylo figure with helmet and works pretty good though I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that till I pull it apart :tools-wrench:
As soon as I finish the cockpit controls etc I can close it up and concentrate on the exterior of the Ship.
Not really sure how this is going to turn out guys but its cheap and fun and if my Sons happy I'm happy :D

way too BIG :laughing-rolling: but this is a kids toy  :shifty: :D
