I gave the black areas a dry brush of dark grey and the green areas a dry brush of silver just to add more highlights before the clear coats
Image
A few more touches with the silver where the blue shows through and that should be it
Image

clear coat added to both arms, i will let them dry for a day or two then add a sludge wash. With a bit of luck they should turn out ok

After giving the body and head a light clear coat I decided to try a enamel Brown wash by AK Interactive. Just brush ed all over and left to dry then cleaned off using kitchen towels
not sure what the finish is going to be like but its fun anyways :D

Not brilliant but adds interest  a little more work with Q tips and it should look a bit better

A little more q-tip work to remove unwanted wash then to add a light matt clear coat

Time to add some gold leaf to the screen. Not sure if this will work out but its all good fun :)
Image

first make sure the area is clean and free from dust then apply the leaf glue sparingly (can't remember the name of it  )
Leave it for ten minutes and you will see the glue go clear and tacky, now you can add the gold leaf

looks a bit creased but most should hopefully buff out

I gave the arms another wash with the same stuff i used for the torso and head, much better than my home made pastel wash.
Left them to dry and then fixed them to the body with industrial super glue ;)

thats it for now folks :) some touching up to do on the helmet, more weathering and then the lights
thanks for looking in....comments welcome

I clear coated just the gold leaf visor and was hoping it would give it a nice shiny surface, it did but it also made the tiny creases show up a little more. Its not to bad to the naked eye but in photos looks more visible.
almost finished :D

I've been following this for a while now. It a looks great!

I think a mirrored nail varnish would be great for that visor, albeit too late now ;)

Hi remrafian :) thank you for the K and thanks for looking in.
The visor has been a bit of a let down, the gold leaf didn't come out as planned. I like your idea on using nail varnish  it would have looked better

Looks stunning Casper! What a good idea to improve on an ordinary toy / piggy bank. The washes and gold leaf came out great. Was that your first delve into using it?

For my own knowledge bank, what was the purpose of the hairspray? And how did you do the LED's Battery pack / button?

Thanks guys, it came out pretty good but to be honesty old leaf wasn't the best choice but lolls ok.
I used it on my gold bars on my DB5 thread Chadders but sometimes use it on paper, fun to use.
The wash was a bit thick but came out OK in the end. The LEDs were from a Christmas light string that already had a battery pack and this fitted inside the baseo. I,m not good with electronics so cheated a little.
Shane loves it mark and it looks cool on his shelf at night woth the lights on.
Thanks fo the K and comments , most welcome :)

I was intending on doing a hairspray paint chipping but for some reason it didn't work out as planned, couldn't get the paint to peel. I think i left the whole thing to dry out too much so went for the paint chipping look instead.
The gold leaf is great to use but it shows up every tiny scratch

thanks for the K mark :)

Absolutely brilliant!
I love projects like these and you have made a flawless example of what can be done to badly made trinkets with a little tlc.
