One of my sons old toys that hasn't seen the light of day for some time so I thought that I would do a custom paint on it just for fun :)
I still don't have the decal set for my Honda F1 car and I messed up the english lightning with the Alclad chrome and airframe aluminium but we won't go into that just yet :shifty: :snooty:

Anyway :)
first a couple of pics before I take the beast apart

Image
Image

first thing to remove is the rear wing assembly (four screws)

Image
Image

remove the main body
Image
Image

then I removed the gun mechanism and gun doors. The three buttons are for the lights, engine sounds and gun doors

more later (ripper street in on) :D

Not much to the cockpit just one seat instead of two and a couple of consoles, painted the seat in desert yellow and put to one side for later

over the course of three days I airbrushed the main body parts with three or four coats of vallejo Desert Yellow
vallejo model colour paint thinned was very nice to use but it tends to clog up the airbrush so constant tip cleaning is needed and a full strip down between coats.
ended up with a nice smooth finish :D
looks a little darker in the photos than it really is

the gaps will be pulled down with screws on final assembly

from the rear of the Tumbler there is a hole 30mmx30mm on either side that needs filling

Image

with the body removed the two areas in the photo will need some plasticard styrene cut and glued in place

Image

after measuring the gaps i cut and primed some black styrene and glued them in place

Hi b-a :)
yes mate I,m hoping to do the camo version, as far as I,m aware the colours are desert yellow and dark earth but the dark earth was much too dark.
If anyone can help with the colours i would be grateful.

thanks steve :)
have to keep the tip clean but today it worked ok, I used a .5 needle instead of a .3 and the paint flowed better
Will try to put a pic up of the lightning, I wasn't set up right with the airbrush and ended up putting on too much Alclad paint
