Airfix QUICK BUILD Challenger Tank

Postby Paul » Sun Feb 01, 2015 12:31 pm

Hi All,

Well I bought the Airfix QUICK BUILD Challenger Tank (J6010) and I know Chill would like to get this, so I thought I'd put up a few comments about it.

My main comment on this is that the plastic is far too yellow and ERgh "Plastic".

More to follow......

As you can see below, the yellow plastic is far too bright.

What I've done is to start to spray it with Humbrol 93 Desert Yellow Matt which I think looks a lot better.

NB. Please ignore the grey primer, as I'm awaiting more supplies of paint !!!!

Not for this one, as I just want to take the Airfix QUICK BUILD jobs up a notch a bit.... a couple of planes to follow on another thread in the next week or so !!!! :) :)

I just want to show that they can all be painted quite simply, like my three Lambo's, so really easy for anyone to get back in to modelling. :) :) :)

With this kit, I've not done a lot really, just a spray job (as it was far too yellow and looked plastic), a bit of black added and a black wash over the grill bits:

A bit more black paint added on the barrel (I did check this and was suprised to see that they were there on the real ones).

There were two decals to go on the front of the turret that I didn't like, so I didn't add them:
