I'm not at my PC so I can't post links but if you post what type of models and countries and then the paint brand you want to use then I can create a list of paints from the different brands for the countries and even subject.

It would be useful for all of us and would serve as a good reference post.

Hi Roy, thank you for the links :D much appreciated.

Hi James, thank you for your reply, I have no particular kit in mind but I will be using Vallejo Model Air excursively. Future kits will be Airfix, Revell and Tamiya in the main or that's what I have in my "stash" as we speak :)
Thanks for taking the time.

Hi

Now are they armour, aircraft or ships?

I will put up my first set of colour usages:

Luftwaffe Night Figters.

Initially all over black (RLM 22) MA 71.057.

This changed mid war to RLM 75 (MA 71.259) and RLM 76 (MA 71.257) with RLM 75 being the all over base coat. Very late war this changes with local and strategic conditions being taken into consideration and many night fighters were painted with standard day ops colours with some having black undersurfaces or retaining RLM 75 undersurfaces.

In general, national emblems were RLM 22 or in the case of RLM 22 undersurface/all over and on occasion upper surfaces, RLM 77 (MA 71.276) was used. NOTE: MA 71.276 is not listed as RLM 77 and is only 2% from the original shade.... our eyes can't notice that and would have been within the paint industry tolerence at the time.

Cockpits from November 1941 Changed tp be RLM 66 (MA 71.055).
I will post on German cockpits in more depth tomorrow :)

If you have a smart phone look up an app called

Hobby Color Converter

I know its available for andriod, can not be sure for iPhone.

However, I find a lot of these charts are not 100% accurate, so beware

Thanks for your input Penny :D it is much appreciated, I'm not that much to worried about authenticity to be honest all I relay want to know eg... if it's one colour for "Airfix" what would be the equivalent in "Vallejo" model air

If you have any German armour/softskins etc in your stash then I should warn you that Vallejo are developing a set of accurate RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb that will take you from inception (February 1943) to end war.
AK's recent sets of "Real Color" that are supposedly accurate and authentic ..... aren't!

I personally supplied chip samples to Vallejo at last years' Telford show and are authentic to original samples made for my restoration projects by an original OEM supplier from original formulae (updated for safety health hazards and then checked for accuracy to original shades.

Once these become available I will, of course, post on them.
